Regarding the rumored 50-storey tower that was being discussed, it appears to be the St. Regis site based on what I have been told by someone at the city, although it is proposed to be 46 stories.

Hmm. What I thought was rumoured for St. Regis site was a smaller 12 storey ish type building. But I don't think anything was ever confirmed.

A new tallest on St. Regis sounds interesting. But the sit seems a bit small for that. Would that include the Sky City site? Which I think was sold again but maybe I was dreaming that.

A 46 storey skinny tower would be incredible. I was told St. Regis site, and I am attempting to get more info

Interesting dynamic going on with the vacant lots on or near Graham being slowly transformed into a row of tall buildings, while the older buildings lining Portage continue to remain underused... it's basically a bunch of 9 to 5 weekday government offices, budget residential conversions and empty storefronts.

It would be nice to see Portage get a little love, either in the form of having new towers built on that street (e.g. between Fort and Smith), or at least seeing some of the existing buildings get put to better use and maybe shined up a bit.

I am in complete agreement regarding Portage. It needs new buildings.

Seems unlikey based on the developer that owns the st Regis site.

They’ve built this:

I just received confirmation that it will indeed be the St. Regis site including the neighboring surface lot

It's a good size site - it covers the old building footprint up to the laneway (or essentially double the old St Regis footprint in size).

well considering every building outside of downtown is fought against tooth and nail for proposing higher than four floors, might as well shoot for the stars where it's permitted downtown

Here is a low quality massing of what YOU guys have said might go there. I used the 22 storey TNS2 as a rough gauge for height.

Who knows... Sandhu only built lowrises until they built dCondo which was far taller and more beautiful than anything else they've done. Sure the economics were a disaster, but they did manage to pull off something impressive looking.

....actually, they didn't manage to pull it off. They managed to start it and the bank and Bockstael finished it but I get your point.

I am trying to get renderings.

Thanks for the mock-up Biff. Our skyline in say 5 years will be quite dramatic I would say.

Heh... clever. But the point is they conceived the project and found a way to get it executed, even if it wasn't actually by themselves.

For what it's worth, I would be OK with the bank and Bockstael finishing this one too.

They already have one in Seven Oaks Pool don't they? Maybe not quite as elaborate, but I remember hearing about an upgrade that was complete near the end of 2019. I suppose it means not many people heard about it given 4 or so months later we went into lockdown.

EDIT: just checked the date, it was March of 2019 it opened.
