Does anyone know what is going on with 95 s state?
Nothing has happened on the roof for weeks and weeks other than the small
2-story addition in the middle of the top. Also why is the lot on the southwest corner of 4th South and West Temple fenced in?
Is the construction on the 28-floor residential tower imminent?

They tried to find a way to make it happen and it simply didn't work out. Master plans are not set in stone. They are plans, not crystal balls.

I'm sad that I never had the opportunity to go in person, but I'm glad this exists at least. What amazes me is how stunning that lobby still looks. Yes its crumbling in some spots (particularly the west side), but the detail on that ceiling and the walls is just spectacular!

Gosh how I wish I could see a wonderful play or event there. I would have taken this theater any day over Capitol Theater, which is pretty but nowhere near the opulence this one has.

I know we are all trying to make peace with its planned demolition (and I am excited for a new tower), but I think this will be something our city will regret forever.
I think the regret is already with us when we allowed the building to become in such bad shape in the first place.

As someone (forgot who, sorry) mentioned just a couple of pages ago, if the theater did happen to be miraculously saved at the last moment, preserved, and renovated, it might just stay empty for a while longer. It's such an expensive project to rehabilitate, with limited uses for re-use, and so many attempts were already made...it's time to let it go.

I definitely get a sense that the historic preservationists in this city don't make a fuss about things until they're about to be demolished. Where was all the outrage when we were letting it fall into disrepair? Nobody seemed to care until it was slated for demolition.

I was wondering the same thing with 95 state. My guess is either a delay on something or they are leaving parts open for access reasons, maybe mechanical related items.

4th south and West Temple was the former Millennial tower site. Not sure what the newest project is called. Probably not an eminent project

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 28-story tower by Domain Companies at 370 South West Temple likely won't have to go through design review and could file a building permit anytime. It's a D1 corner and the building would be under 375 ft.

I think the site has been fenced for awhile though, so I'm not sure anything is imminent as of yet.

Apparently, according to members of the National League of Theaters, the Utah Pantages is in better shape than many theaters across the country were in before being restored. And “it didn’t work out” is subjective, and had more to do with the last administration than anything. Had Ralph Becker been mayor it likely would have worked out.

as much as I wish that was for SLC, that is definitely not SLC. I think it's Baltimore. Also it's dated 2014.

That's 414 Light St in Baltimore, it is complete now and I believe it's among the cities tallest.

https://citizenportal.slcgov.com/Citizen...31&agencyCode=SLCREF&IsToShowInspection=

A new project has filed planned development application and Design Review applications.

Location: 1780 E South Campus Dr

Project Description:
Quote:
Ivory University House (the “Project”) is a proposed 536-bed student housing community located at 1780 E South Campus Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah The primary objective of the Project is to provide a focused learning environment where University of Utah students will feel welcomed, engaged, and secure during their higher education careers. Ivory University House will donate all net proceeds to fund scholarships at the University of Utah for students demonstrating financial hardship.

The existing site currently houses a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel and is zoned Institutional. Surrounding properties include Fort Douglas, the University of Utah, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Institute.
It looks like they are hoping for a 2023 opening. It also looks like the project will include four buildings (two 4-floor & two 5-floor buildings), a surface parking lot, and an outdoor amenity area/greenspace/plaza.

I know I can speak for almost everyone when I say this. Is it really necessary to attach numerous photos of a single building project? Attach a link for the photos. It’s becoming incredibly annoying when one single page is mostly photos. Come on people, not that difficult. Also that above project at the university doesn’t need 5+ photos. Not that big of a project. And again, just attach a link. Thanks.

Yeah really not a fan of that design it looks like a dollhouse without any thought given to proportion or scale

Also why does it have like 30 rooflines?

I'd rather look at pictures of any project size in the area than read complaint posts about it. Sorry, if you have time to waste on this forum anyways, I don't think the 5 milliseconds it takes to scroll through photos makes much difference.

Many of us will be posting similar/ the exact same stuff on the Reddit page: r/DevelopmentSLC in the future.

If you want a quick scrolling place in the future, that is your best bet.

I will say, it seems weird you got so upset. Of the 20 posts on the page you commented on, only two included 3 or more photos.

Some like posting image links, especially if their images are huge.

For smaller and standard size photos, I personally try to limit it to 7 or so photos at most for a new project and drop the rest under spoiler tags if needed. I found that’s much easier (especially on a mobile device) than having to constantly open and close tons of new tabs just to see a couple standard size images.

Obviously everyone has their own preference, that’s just mine.

I would also point out that Ivory University House, at 536 beds and 4 buildings, is one of the largest projects planned in the city. While it isn’t a tower, it’s scale is as large as one.

Even small projects, like townhouse and apartment building projects, are important to the overall narrative of the city. I haven’t always thought that they belong here on skyscraperpage, but I received so much backlash for suggesting not to post them here that I realized just how interested everyone on this site was in them. Especially because new towers are more rare and we wouldn’t have as much to talk about.
