Can anyone remind me how bad the contamination is at the Lantic Sugar Refinery site or what the ownership situation is? If growth continues like this development will either have to push towards that direction or north through Waterloo Village, Crown, or Main. I know there's still plenty of infill sites remaining in the Uptown (looking at you, block situated between Union, Coburg, Dorchester, and Carleton).

It would require a 1 m thick slab on grade only concrete pad and not suited for residential. Warehousing type property ok. No basement or foundation permitted. Beneath surface soil has hydrocarbons attached to soil and heavy metals. As for who owns it, I believe in 2008 Irving Oil bought it for $10 M, then swapped it with port in exchange for Long Wharf property.

Thanks. So development will naturally have to push north of Union, then.

This is good news! I thought due to soil contamination that it was not possible to put anything more than a concrete slab down there.

Another poster mentioned this was just old army grounds. I don’t see any record either of industry on that lot. If rumour is true it’s a 180 units, it will either have to be a 14 - 16 story building, or two 6 - 8 story buildings

Not sure what to think of The Atlantic now. The metal siding that’s being installed looks meh IMO and nothing like the rendering at all. It’s roofing material being installed by the developer’s metal roofing company.

Looked at this on Wednesday and the metal cladding so far is really bad, looks like a storage shed. Hopefully the upper cladding or the facade clad is much higher quality.

Haven’t we learned our lesson from Agar place? Hopefully it somehow pulls together in the end but I cringe when I see it. Maybe he wants the same style as Victor Train & Sons building nearby. I know if I reserved a unit I wouldn’t be happy. Looks like he is also forgoing the architectural details on top too.

Does a 6-8 story building fall into RH classification? Just wondering.
