Looks like the core is well past the 400' mark now, and the floorplates aren't far behind.

I think it's pretty much right at 400 feet now. Austin Proper is 397 feet, and Third+Shoal is 389. I'm hoping it slims up more than it has because I'm not really sold on the squattiness of it so far.

I'm wondering if we need to see the full "sail" portion to really appreciate the effect. I agree with you but I'm holding out hope.

The mullions also bug me sometimes. It looks too busy from certain angles and I feel like it distracts from the building's form. I wouldn't have minded seeing the facade look more like the Indeed Tower or Fountain Place in Dallas. A lot of the buildings in that area of downtown already have a lot of texture and contrast in their facade, so I'm thinking it might have stood out better with a more subdued facade. I don't know, I hope I'm wrong, but this building's best feature is its shape, and I feel like the facade is secondary in uniqueness and distracts a bit.

Kevin I do agree that the building is kind of busy, which I also agree takes away from its biggest feature, the sail. I will say that Google 2 certainly looks better than Third & Shoal, never been a fan of that massive parking garage. I am really interested in seeing how this building turns out, fingers crossed it looks as nice from the front as Austin Proper does. I hope you've been staying safe man!

How the hell? Seems most of the way done already. I don't get how they could possibly take another year+.

I'm thinking 2023 includes tenant improvements, whereas 2022 was shell only. Although it is a little hard to imagine the shell taking another 9 months. It is a little more complicated than most other buildings, though.

I would have been very shocked to hear that it would take this building 3+ years to complete. In fact, they started drilling for this in February of 2019 and the first columns were up in October of 2019. Pushing the completion date to 1Q2023 would make it a 48 month job. That's supertall length of schedule.

Granted, this building has an intricate design and the site is unique with water on two sides, but still, that's an unusually long construction schedule. I just checked the construction dates we had posted to the building's page in SSP's database, and they were 2019 to 2021, and there's no way at this point that it'll be done this year.

I don't think you can say this looks bad for them. No one could have predicted the logistical troubles that Covid caused.

The fences are still up actually. It was a people's revolution to tear part of the fencing up and just start using the playground. I'd say the last 10 days or so its been in pretty heavy use by humans.

I am assuming the city is waiting for covid vaccines to be a little more plentiful since I would expect this playground to be *extremely* packed and not social distanced when opened. Maybe early Summer?
