This was proposed for St. Anne's at Hindley. Lots of opposition, including some esoteric planning discussion about Urban Infill Maps, in the minutes of the last Community Committee meeting. And lots of local opposition by the looks of it.

I wouldn't say it's a looker, but it isn't out of scale with its surroundings. There are bigger buildings a couple blocks in either direction.

It won't win any awards but it's perfect for the location.

It's been held over to the April 6th Riel Community Committee meeting.

There is a For Sale sign on that area of land.

This looks very interesting to me. This would also be a great addition to that area. It bulks up the periphery of downtown nicely.

That St. Anne's building is fine in that location.

Depressing. If it's that bad in the artist's conception, how much worse will it be in reality? I don't understand why in all the architectural schools in the world no one has ever come up with a way to make buildings of this type attractive.

There are plenty in the world that are far more attractive than that!

Demolition fencing is up around the "le marche" building at Des Meurons and Goulet. If nothing is ever gonna happen on Provencher with the key jingling fiasco, at least stuff in the other areas of St. B seems to be progressing. I just wonder if anyone from La maison des artistes or La societe de la francophonie actually ever walk around St. B and are like, "I'm sure happy we're keeping this area so dumpy and mediocre!" (but in french)

that st. Anne's proposal is pure garbage.. utterly gross.. looks like a 50's era building with a late 90's early 00's facelift.

Yes, thankfully there has been some fantastic modern-day architecture in WPG – including courtesy of TrueViking and most recently with the Inuit addition – but maybe there could be some new design awards created for the city.

Some possible categories:

- The 'It's better than a parking lot' prize
- 'Fine in that location' trophy
- 'It won't win any awards' award
- 'It's impossible to match the quality of century-old buildings today' participation certificate
- 'If you can do better, then spend your own money. Otherwise, shut up' medal

Anyway, as mentioned there have been some great developments and renovations in town, and kudos to those who have kept trying to beautify a beautiful city.

That St. Annes one is better than a lot of the junk that get's built around Winnipeg. Colour scheme is ugly, for sure. The building was rejected as it isn't compatible with the neighbours or something.

Half on stilts. commercial along the front on St. Anne's. The other half and the back lot is parking at grade. Underground parkade, bike storage, etc. Building would likely be concrete/steel.

Pretty good if you ask me. As opposed to stick frame junk with nothing else going on.

construction fencing is up around the site of the new residential complex at River and Bishop Grandin with demolition of the current buildings and site clearing taking place.

also noticed they did riverbank stabilization behind the lot at Mayfair and Main St. where that 15ish story apartment complex is set to be going.

^ 169 Mayfair - the 3 level parkade creates a rather large looking podium, but it will definitely stand out in that area height-wise.
