Sad, but happy they are able to retire. So goes the life of a restaurant, but here's hoping a fellow restaurateur purchases it to keep a restaurant or similar use in that space.

Very good indeed, though I think Pho King on 118 Ave and 90 St is in the same league.

The Valley Line LRT construction and COVID likely didn't help matters.

The ROI was my first real adult foray into memorable and lasting culinary adventures.

The Carrot Community Coffeehouse on 118 Avenue is moving into the building being renovated at 9432 118 Ave by HIBCO:

HIBCO has done a great job on the project and I'm looking forward to an expanded Carrot in our area.

That's unfortunate; I always liked it there.

That at least is one positive. I expect a couple of more before the fall.

Apparently XO opened up their riverbend location. woot.

My oldest daughter peanut allergy appears to be on a decline...so super happy that they have a much more convenient location.

Shōjō Izakaya is a pretty good place for beers, cocktails, and snacks. Been there twice, and the food's great. Try the steamed clams if you can - they are deliciously sweet when dipped in soy sauce.

It's in the basement of that little building housing the Wilfred's restaurant (which is closed for dine-in, but Shōjō is open) in the far west end of the Brewery District. Easy to spot even at night due to the string lighting in the courtyard.

^Yes, a cute hidden gem for sure.

Also, new Dalla Zenari's is a real treat. Open most days until at least 8pm, great place for wine or beer, some antipasti or a crostini. Best caesar salad I've had in a while, lemon caper chicken also really good. Great space, really activates that corner. Nothing else was open on Monday so ended up there and was reasonably busy.
