meh, tbh any development at this point is welcome. It will at least attract even more development from others further down the road.

^That sounds like something we'd have said 10-12 years ago. Expecting higher quality developments is something the City and its citizens should aspire to. Not sure how one might accomplish that, however. The cost of real estate and building materials have inflated such that scaling up and cheaping out on materials are the only answers, I guess.

I'm not sure most citizens really care.

The city should though. I suppose you can gauge that somewhat by the creation of the Design Review Panel, but how much influence has that really had?

As the market matures and prices go up, hopefully we'll see better proposals.

It's not even the quality of the proposals I'm complaining about, their quality is totally fine by Hamilton standards. It's that the developer owns 4 big sites on one block and their proposals for all of them look the same. I don't mind any one of them alone, but you'd think they'd clue in and aim for a bit of variety on the block

Couldn't agree more. When looking at them, that's all I can see is how similar they are.

Haven't seen any movement at this site yet, wonder what the hold up is.

It just got approved for zoning and hasn't launched sales yet? It's going to be a while before it starts.

Just seen this ad for this location. Looks like they will be starting construction in the fall. Just noticed the ad doesn't give the date. The facebook ad said fall of 2021.

It's not a very good picture because it's just been taken from an advertisement on Facebook, but, uhh, things don't seem to be going too well design-wise here...

Isn't this being built by Coletara? They're basically the less sketchy Vrancor at this point. Building development after development, without stopping, and with zero design ethic at all.

I thought it was someone else (Belmont Equity noted previously in the thread) but the website says Coletara. Unless one is just a part of the other?

Belmont equity is likely an investor, with Coletara actually managing the project.

They were mentioned earlier as a developer when the city gave its approval. But their website talks about their developments and their approach to investment so that may make sense.

Looks like preliminary site work has started on this one. They're putting up a perimeter wood fence and there is some equipment on the site.

Also, I noticed there is a large billboard advertising pre-sales at the Main Street off ramp of the 403.

That is very interesting! A vacant site no? That would be very promising, not just for those site, but also the others that they have in the pipe.

The perimeter advertisement fence is now up. I'm sure constructions will be starting in the next week or so.

I doubt construction will happen that quickly. I'm curious if they'll be building a sales centre on the property or do it somewhere else like Platinum.

On the signage they’ve put up there’s the location of the sales centre for this - it’s on Plains Road in Burlington. Cannot recall the exact number, sorry. Seems kind of strange to sell downtown Hamilton condos in Burlington, though.
