Fair. There's not too much to say though. People are rightfully bothered by such offensively lazy attempts at architecture.

I'm not sure how to pull images from PDFs but if anyone else can, there's updated renders at the page below. Looks like higher-quality renders than what we've seen before, and includes changed massing for the 25-storey tower.

Most befuddling, is that apparently "based on feedback" and "to be more inclusive" (??), they've eliminated all family-sized units from the plans: "the project is being adapted to be more inclusive and will now feature market-rate residential units which will appeal to a broad cross-section of the Hamilton community and decrease the overall population density and number of bedrooms. The proposed units will be 1- and 2-bedroom units instead of the 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom units previously proposed."

Well the apartment block looks a lot better in the renderings, luckily. Still a spandrel mess but at least the massing is much more sophisticated.

The site plan is still a disaster though. Wayyy too much surface parking. why have 2 exits onto King Street but no entrances? Just limit access to the adjacent streets.

Wow I actually quite like the apartment rendering, if he can make it look like the rendering I'd be happy BUT this is Vranich so I have serious reservations!

The render is missing the chunks taken out of the precast, and the uneven paint, and the seams on the precast, and the random tubes for bathroom fans and AC sticking out of the white sheet of concrete.

lol - I do like the way they attempt to make it look like multiple buildings - ala william thomas style - but whats up with that frostey glass covering bear the bottom? And yeah all the issues mentioned above - how crappy will the final product look - how seamy, chipped, weird painty and exhaust stampy..

his current projects are nothing to rave about for sure. At least so far they ain't.

The new design for the taller tower is much less bulky than the original, so I think this has a much higher chance of being approved now. I really like how it steps down toward King and the massing has been broken up with the white precast elements.

In the last render, it looks like we've overcome city light to allow the capture of the milky way right at our fingertips. I'm sure Gene Roddenberry would approve.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that other mystery tower in that night rendering.

It could also just be representative of Stelco Tower?

An astronomer would be more curious about that really bright light blue oblong circle though. In ancient times, it would have portended the end of the world!

I guess this sign sums up the mind set of the people in this neighbourhood of what they want!

Crane left..

This morning I looked out my window and saw activity on the site.. Later I looked out again and saw the tower was gone and being taken away up the street..

Bye tower..
Until we see you again!!

Unhappy

As a person who lives in the neighbourhood.. I'm very disappointed to see this not moving along faster and at even greater heights.
I'm hoping they are just bringing another mightier tower to fill in the void now..
