Center for Human Rights receives $17 million grant from Arthur Blank foundation

The article says most of the money will go to a 20,000 sqft expansion.
"The Center says the wing, which does not yet have a name, will have a 2,700 sq.-ft. gallery on the lobby to engage family and children, a 2,500 square-foot gallery for the Without Sanctuary postcard collection of lynching and anti-lynching artifacts, gallery space for temporary and visiting exhibitions and a 900 sq.-ft. café. The top floor plans they say will feature the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. papers, which will be the final stop on the visitor journey."

The press release refers to the expansion as "the west wing" so it may be just the portion on the right side of the image, toward the parking deck.

The Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Puppetry Arts Center are two of the things I wish every visitor to Atlanta (or resident, for that matter) would visit. They are both unique experiences that are very well done.

^Agree. The Center for Puppetry Arts is a legitimately world-class institution, and it seems like many Atlanta residents either aren't aware of it or think it's just for kids. The temporary exhibit on the Dark Crystal was awesome, and their Halloween show for adults is a blast.
The Center for Civil and Human Rights is amazing, but I think most Atlantans are at least aware of it, maybe on the same level of awareness at the College Football Hall of Fame (which is also excellent).

This is good news. The Center is already very interesting, but it seems somewhat limited in exhibit space. This is a need addition. Looking forward to it.

Have they completed a project? Aren’t they also the north ave/existing credit union redevelopment to condo proposal?

Good luck with $2mil townhomes, you don’t see many homes in Atlanta go for that price.

I could not find any recent information on this but this looks great.

In 2017, it was reported that the city was negotiating to sell the property to Pope & Land for this proposal.

I agree. I am waiting for the day that Atl starts to get really serious and consistent about good design. A few here and there ain't gone cut it anymore. The city is going into a different league and needs to start acting accordingly.

There is heavy equipment on site for the two tower project behind Hanover west Peachtree. Very hard to see because of height difference; not sure exactly what is up there

It would be great to see that project move forward, especially in an area ripe for some good building height.

Yeah, that project and the two towers at the Portman site around the funeral home are going to make a huge difference, especially viewed from the Connector. I've joked that they missed a spot when passing between 10th and 12th.

It looked like there a few large dumpsters and the equipment said JCB on the side
