Just heard that Natasha Staniszewski has been let go from TSN due to cuts by Bell Media. I hope she comes back to Edmonton for new opportunities.

my first reaction to the whole list was “pretty insipid choices”... at least whatever they choose won’t be as strange as the redblacks.

somehow i can’t quite imagine the name evergreen holding up in conversation. hey guys, are you football players? damn right we are. that’s the lions and argonauts and roughriders and stampeders and bombers and alouettes and tigercats over there. those guys over the are redblacks. and that’s ... the evergreens? at least they stand tall until they get cut down on the field.

Eclipse or Eagles but I think they would do Golden Eagles if that was the choice. Would make more sense with our colors.

I wish the EE folks set up the survey better. They ask to rank the list of seven, which I assume most people will do. But I can see how many people will either click on their favorite and hit submit (without ranking), or move their favorite to the top without ranking the rest. Since ELK is at the top, it will likely get the highest ranking. They could have set it up better with a likert scale. So it makes me wonder if they set it up that way for a reason. Five of the names are bush league, one sounds like an old white guy's secret society, and the other is actually good. Given it's the CFL, I would have expected the Green Golds, the Gold Greens, or the Roughriders. Since it's Edmonton, I fully expect the team will go with no name at all, just EDMONTON punctuated with a small maple leaf.

Appears Eagles is winning the voting by a landslide. I voted for Evergreens. lol I too hope they make it Golden Eagles. The more I hear it the more it fits.
