-3C with a wind chill of -6 and mainly cloudy. Just a crappy day (for reasons unrelated to weather).

Low of -10C (wind chill of -17) last night.

The warmspot was North Cowichan, BC at 10.7C.

Horizontal snow and high winds have been happening all night in Halifax. You can hear the wind rumbling and shaking the house a little (typical nor'easter). Was outside a little while ago and you could feel rain mixed in with the snow, but since it's -2°C I'll have to assume it's freezing rain. Lots of snow down, but depth is difficult to discern due to the drifting.

Still have power, for now.

Not a single flake has yet dropped where I am, but work is closed until at least 11 a.m.

Second snow day this year and second time the announcement was made before a single flake fell. I love this. Last time it was the middle of the day so I was able to pick up supplies and get home before it hit. Today I don’t need to get ready waiting for the last minute to learn if I indeed needed to do so.

Love it. Big improvement over the past. Government and businesses in St. John’s waited until the middle of Igor to send people home lol. Commuters were stuck behind road washouts and everything. I think that’s when they started to get more cautious. And this year has just been chef’s kiss.

-6C and very light snow in Moncton at 8 AM.

According to the Weather Network, we received about 18 cm in Moncton last night. Halifax has apparently received 41 cm so far, and the winds down there are a lot stronger than they are up here.

It's finally beginning to look like a typical winter in Moncton, with some heft to the cuttings along the sides of the city streets - it just took about five weeks longer than normal to get here. Since things around here usually start to improve by early March, I guess this will give us a 4-5 week winter - not too bad.

Just walked to the superette for storm supplies and - awesome news! 2/3 remaining crack houses on my block are being gutted.

-14 overnight here, coldest day of the year so far. Sitting at -12 right now and going “up” to -7. This cold can go away any day now, thanks.

Looks like around 40-45 cm has fallen. Snow has drifted like crazy.

Nice warm morning today.

-37C -49 windchill. It's going to be ugly when the wind is 40 gusting to 60 later this morning.

When the forecast was talking about potential -60 windchill values this morning, I'll take the -49.

Still ridiculous forecast, although the last day is quite a bit warmer now.

-27 -27 -26 -27 -27 -21 -16

Running 20C below normal.

Snow and -1 at 11:30 am. Looks like the snow/ice boundary is about to push in, we've had 9cm so far.

I know some might accuse me of being a Pollyanna about this stuff, but I find the low temperatures totally tolerable when winds are calm outside.

I went for a long walk on Saturday night and then went to the rink on Sunday morning with temperatures in the low -20s. Didn't feel at all uncomfortable either time. Now if the winds were going I wouldn't have set foot outside, but if they aren't, it is pretty easy to stay warm even in very cold temps. Wind is really public enemy number one when it comes to winter weather...

25 degrees below normal.

Currently -26 at 8 am. Was literally in pain taking Aurora for her morning walk. Might be time to buy a winter coat for the first time since I lived back in Ontario. Another 4 days of this, then heading back to around.

Considering some of the cold temps Calgary can get, I'm surprised you didn't have a winter coat already.

YYC Airport dropped to -26.9 overnight, still managing to avoid the dangerously cold wind chills for now. Forecast still shows gradual warming starting on Friday.

On that note, I've always enjoyed when people post the wind chill as if it were the real temperature but almost never post the humidex in the summer months in the same way.

I've never needed one in my 10 winters here, and before here I was in Vancouver. I just layer my leather jacket over my fall coat. Dry cold, even during extreme cold like this, is a lot easier to handle than the bone curdling wet cold back in SWO where I was born and raised.

I'm only considering it now because I'm out for walks way more than average because I try to get my dog as much exercise as possible (minimum 6 km a day, but usually 15+)

Winds have picked up in Calgary, which means we join the rest of the province in the extreme cold warning. EC is warning of wind chills between -40 and -55.

Currently -26, with a wind chill of -37.
