I supported Leiper's efforts to lower the back side of the development, but ultimately I find this to be an overall good proposal. The architecture is fairly plain, but with quality materials could make for a handsome development.

Hopefully the parkette can include some enhancements to the stub of Byron Pl. that will remain west of Highcroft; I'm still not sure why that roadway needs to be retained at all; it could have allowed for a significantly larger parkette.

They provided an explanation in the September open house. I think it was something about emergency vehicle access. I think they also explained why they didn't place the parking garage on the Byron Place stump, but I don't remember what that was.

EDIT 1: Sorry, the open house on the development was in June, not September.
EDIT 2: I went through the June video quickly to get those answers. The reason why they placed the parking garage on Highcroft instead of Byron Place was that the Byron/Byron Place/Highcroft intersection is a bit of a mess. I guess it would be complicated coming or going from Churchill to make that 180 turn between Byron and Byron Place.
EDIT 3: Byron Place is not eliminated, but will be shortened by 20 meters more or less.

EDIT 4: Why isn't Byron Place removed completely? The answer is two-fold from the City's perspective: it has to service the fire access for the building and operations requires the stub for snow storage and removal. It sounds like Byron Place could be landscaped with bollards and a gate so it could act as somewhat of a hardscaped park but still allow emergency access.
