Grand Hyatt will be mixed use, so we can't compare it with the current tallest hotel, which is only 1169'. Instead we compare it with the highest hotel, the Rosewood Guangzhou, occupying the top floors of the 1739' Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Finance Centre.
A couple months ago I found a very recent webpage listing the 7 or so highest hotels in the world, but I can't find it any more. I vaguely remember feeling disappointed that Grand Hyatt would not make the top 3. If Grand Hyatt is really 1600', not 1646', and the top ~170' is unoccupied, then it may not even be among the top 5 in the world.
I am not bashing this exciting building, just stating some facts. BTW the lit crown in
rgarri4's model looks stunning.
