This building has the added benefit of affordable housing. When 247 Cherry St is built, those would be the only 2 supertalls in the city to have affordable housing, both designed by the great SHoP Architects. That being said, it doesn’t really matter to me who occupies the buildings, be it the corporate fat cats, or the billionaires. I’m looking at the design, and this would be a beauty by any measure. Brooklyn’s own supertall. I can’t wait for the day they build something equally fascinating in Queens.

Yes it would be great for another iconic supertall in Queens. That this building has affordable housing is just a little bonus that makes me love it just a bit more. Brooklyn is getting a really nice skyline that most US cities would envy. And yes SHOP does great work and I would love to see more towers with such a great design and great materials for NYC.
Imagine winning the affordable housing lottery and getting a unit in this tower. Man... now that is a prize worthy of placing a ticket for the lottery.

The thing about the affordable housing, I know people in that area who would ask "affordable" for who? That's something we lose track of. For many, it's no different than the "billionaire's row" towers. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah, the Juniors building looks awful, especially in comparison to the emerging next-door beauty.
Raze it and replace with a residential tower with new Juniors at the base.
I don’t even mind the Juniors right now. I don’t want an ounce of 9 Dekalb blocked, especially by some crappy looking apartment building.

It might be a good thing that Juniors refuses to sell. To preserve 9 DeKalb look. Last thing we need is a Sam Chang or Kaufman going up next to it.
Might be one of those rare, rare cases where humanitarian NIMBYism is righteous. Say no to anything that is next to 9 Dekalb as it blocks its Devine beauty UNLESS its equal to or greater than 9 Dekalb in the aesthetics department.
