And yes, the grid system won't allow this shot to ever look like Paris. That and the assembly line like shapes of these plexes as viewed from the air.

I was looking for aerials of Brooklyn as I couldn't think of a better comparable. I don't think there was such mass reproduction in one space.

Another thing that popped into my mind was the high rise projects in NYC. Cool from the air with the non standard shapes positioned at different angles, but on ground level, what a disaster. The exact same appearance over and over again for dozens of buildings. Which is the opposite of these Verdun pics, where on street level it's very much different.

That’s a really cool view of Edmonton, one not seen all that frequently. It’s interesting, because it makes it appear less dense than what it feels like when walking around downtown and through campus. Maybe it’s all the green that makes it appear that way. Either way, nice photo, and definitely shows that Edmonton is not just a jumble of industrial parks.

@Martin Mtl Along with all of your fantastic Montreal pics. thanks for sliding in that recent Ottawa shot..looks great!

re; Montreal ..Infrastructure aside, tripping around the city, you really do get a sense that it really is a mature city of neighbourhoods..You really do get a sense that it's COMPLETE, and anything new is just a bonus. It's not a work in progress, and is a well seasoned city if that makes any sense?

Agreed. Montreal is amazing. Wall to wall 3-4 storey buildings. No holes anywhere. No vacant lots, no parking lots, no strip malls, ugly mid-rise office buildings or cheap 70s slab towers. Just density perfection. Amazing how intact Montreal's urban built form remains.

There's one thing I know: Quebec city' skyline is hard to capture from one specific vantage point because of its topography. The St Roch part alone would be per example a good little skyline of a 150k to 250k metro area if taken alone, but it's at the foothill of the upper town and not always included in skyline shoots.
