We are so lucky to have so many great projects in Austin that something like Tower 5C (5th & Colorado) drops to the second page.

That is Tower 5C (all office). The "BBVA" tower is mostly residential with a 6-level office component just above the podium. I'm not 100% sure BBVA paid for the naming rights to the tower. If so, it may now be called PNC Tower.

Both projects are being developed by Ryan Companies.

I'd of guessed that the BBVA would be an office tower as well. I didn't realize it would be residential. I like PNC Tower as a name. It sounds legit. Lol

To me BBVA gives it more of an international presence. I know there’s a PNC tower in Pittsburgh, but there are BBVA towers all over central and South America and Europe.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Austin doesn't have as much international branding. I suppose that's nice in some ways, but it's inevitably going to happen as it takes an increasingly large position in global business, etc.

Someone on this forum the other day said Ryan Companies gave the 5C project to another developer and that BBVA would move forward.

Looks like they were correct.

This must be what it felt like for Houston skyscraper enthusiasts watching the 1970s-1980s boom. I still cannot believe how much the floodgates have burst open with skyscraper construction here in Austin these days.

They've increased the apartment count from 363 and lowered the office SF from 120,000...

Yeah I think it's really only a massing - but it does seem to be about the right height
