Thanks for posting. Overpasses seem mostly done, but I have noticed much progress over the past few months.I'm starting to worry.

I wonder how challenging any future interlining of airport service will be, with the modificaations that might be necessary at South Keys. The airport's station also permanently limits rolling stock length.

Earl Armstrong near the future Bowesville station. The overpass is complete but no work yet on the elevated berm.

Limebank. Piers are up, but not much else.

Uplands station. We have a crane and part of the berm towards the airport.

South Keys. Honestly looks more advanced than the southern parts of Line 2.

The airport. Now this seems well advanced. I thought it was built to eventually allow double tracking, but maybe not. Double tracking will probably never be warranted at the airport anyway.

And Greenboro.

Apparently the elevated guideway structure at the airport is complete: https://twitter.com/AllanHubley_23/status/1351243330865278982

Indeed no - no doubletracking on the elevated section from EY to YOW - it was, is, and shall be, single-track only. And, I agree with your prediction of passenger load well into the future. Any YOW station expansion and associated double-tracking will only be at the time of proven load increase requirement.

To Multi-modal, the decking of the elevated is yet to come, and the YOW station itself.

EnJoy!

It's built to allow a platform extension at the airport, but not for double tracking.
I don't really see why it'd be necessary anyway.

Any news on if the feds are going to cover the funding gap for the station? The argument on whether this line was needed in the first place is kind of pointless now, but being stuck maintaining this thing (I'm pretty sure that's all in the DBO contract) will be a lot of money down the hole for nothing.

Even if Line 2 got twinned, I can't see Line 4 ever having the demand to justify double tracking. Our airport is just too close to Montreal to get much more traffic than it has (or had in pre covid times). Double tracking Line 2 would
allow interlining the less frequent Line 4 trains easily

I think the answer is that it will be built eventually no matter what. Whether that's now with federal funding or in a decade when the airport is back on its feet is still unknown.

It seems like they've made the passing track by Uplands really long which should be more than enough forever. Even if it really needed "double tracking" I can't see the terminal ever being double tracked. I immediately think of Vancouver and the Canada Line which has a single-track terminus at YVR.

I'd be willing to bet that Uplands would get more ridership overall than the airport even if the pandemic never happened, so some of the line could be used even if the airport station is not built. Though the City might decide to shutter the entire spur until the airport station is built.

We haven't heard a whole lot lately about the timelines of the Stage 2 O-Train expansion, but Mayor Watson tells NCC board the "work is going very well," Trillium Line expansion to open at the end of 2022.

Truly a white elephant if the airport station does not get built. Are Ottawa taxpayers going to be left holding the bag on this one?

The airport spur should not have been built without a guarantee that it could at least shuttle people to and from Bayview. I still can't get over the reasoning that three trains is better than one bus.

Track geometry for the Trillium Line has been updated. It also includes station layouts. Some very strange station layouts.

Why did they get rid of the pocket track at South Keys ? This is going to create operation problems ... Interesting to see how they're going to operate Line 4 with Line 2.

PS: Nevermind didn't notice that the west track at South Keys doesn't connect to the main line south of the station (it used to before).

Because the floor maps are layering everything at one level, it's a little hard to decipher the layout. I can guess what the emergency exits are and such, but some stations like Limebank and Airport seem to be missing details, and others only seem to have exit stairs shown, I doubt Walkley is an elevator only station.

So this gives us some hint, but still hard to determine the final product

That makes no sense. There has to be a passing track between Brookfield and Leitrim. The only place possible is South Keys. There needs to be a cross-over south of South Keys station.

The layout is strange. I don't know how they plan on operating the line but I'm just commenting what I'm seeing on the plan. Also they got rid of the switch North of Corso Italia on the way to Bayview.

I don't know how accurate the data on Geottawa is.

Good Day.

IMHO, this GeoOttawa has introduced many errors.
Whether or not a pocket track has been retained or eliminated at SouthKeys is open to conjecture - we have heard both ways. To loose it is to have big difficulties for Line 4 ops, as you note.
BUT
They have lost the necessary crossover south of SouthKeys, as you note.
There is no way that can be eliminated. Southbound-Limebank at SouthKeys must be able to get to the eastern side of the track pair to continue on south, and not go to YOW. No sense.
<< Unless they are planning Line 2 single track ops all the way from south of Carleton ==all the way== to south of NCC ??? umnnn....WOW ! >>
AND
They do not show the NCC freight track south of the Airport spur divergence.
Again, this is part and parcel of the current single track ops from south of SouthKeys to south of the NCC yard, where the single track ops twins on south to Limebank.

They HAVE eliminated the pocket track east of Limebank, as had been reported.
As for loosing the plaza at Gladstone (CI), I can only assume they have left out preliminary details. It seems to me they do not indicate ANY plazalike structure or ANY connection to Gladstone. Gone missing in transfer ?

I can only assume much has been FUBARed in communication of plans between T-Next and GeoOttawa, and we will have to await a refresh and correction.

Finally, as for Bayview's eastside platform, all the info on it that I have heard has been that it is intended for utility and emergency use only, for the duration of the life of Phase 2. This bears it out.
No stairs, No escalators, No elevators, No shelters or structures, No connections to anywhere at all. AND, as you note, NO provision for such in the future without massive closures and construction.

OUCH!

And, as a sidenote, they still do not show the second (southern) launch track at Belfast Yard. <sigh>
