It'll sit idle for a while, might get a major height reduction to like half (which i honestly wouldn't mind) but i think it will eventually happen, even with new owners. This page goes through this with every project and as soon as it breaks ground, we sigh, grunt and move on to the next doomsday prophecy for the next project which will most likely end up being the Luxe, Angels Landing or something else lol.

While I appreciate your optimism and hope you're right you don't think that the Huizar scandal + shady inexperienced developers basically kills any chances of LA's tallest proposed projects?

I would think there are others waiting to jump in line...it’s just all hoops they have to jump through to get anything done here in LA.

When you say others are you referring to new developers buying the plot / developing a new project? I just worry they wouldn't be as cool.

I'm referring to the projects that were approved (or were to be approved) by the bribes councilman Huizar accepted. I don't know how they'd go forward after that.

Does anyone know of any current live cams of projects under construction in Downtown LA?

CitizenM builds hotels with Lego-like modules. One is about to open in LA amid COVID

Some great new views + interesting commentary on what looks to be a great new hotel addition to DTLA

Very professional drone footage of DT LA. Looks recent too, very recent. Full screen and max quality (5k) recommended.

Video Link

Some cranes / construction projects can be seen.

I'd rather be realistic, false optimism sucks.

Nice video! What's the empty plot of land U/C on the other side of the Disney Hall?

Thanks!

I don't think there's a thread for 1045 Olive (my favorite LA project) but this is the latest I could find on it. Not sure if this has been shared since it's about a year old.

On another note, as much as I'm excited for Angels Landing (if it gets built), I'm also kind of sad that it'll cover one of the only / and best parks downtown.

Approaching 10,000 posts, who wants to take charge of a new thread with an updated front page?

The Chigago and New Orleans threads both have over 18,000 posts. Unless the Admins (not the mods - that's me!!) ask us to create a new one, we can continue to use this thread. If anyone wants to take over updating this thread on the front page, please raise your hand and I can see if I can make you an editor of the thread.

Not a new building development, but a new rooftop vegas-club would be a noticeable change.

Quote:
Rome Nightclub is designed to be a “modern-day Roman Colosseum,” with a 25,336-square-foot “front of house” and an “expected city-approved” capacity of 2500 to 3500 people, according to the company’s website. It will be both an indoor and outdoor venue offering a “wide array of world-class amenities with a spectacular view that overlooks and becomes part of the ever-growing Los Angeles Skyline.”

This would be a pretty rad and unique spot if it were to come to be. Sadly my guess is it won't.

Fig + Pico rises! The streetwall already looks so much better and more urban. And that is before we've even got to the tower rising.

Figueroa could still use a road diet, even if only a median a la Las Vegas Blvd.

Absolutely agreed. The question to me is what would provide more benefit - a green median (mostly aesthetics) or a MyFig 2.0 (mostly functionality.

This could be such an iconic street that I think a green median might by the right choice here to help evolve into the grand boulevard is should be for lakers fans, concer goers, convention center attendees, etc.

Also nice match this weekend ChelseaFC (COYG!)
