What’s particularly absurd is Brown’s People’s Guarantee document supported the 425.

Brampton’s urban boulevard proposal is really dumb.

I’m confused:
Brampton wants to turn the 425 freeway into an urban boulevard through town ?
Or they want to run an urban boulevard in the median of the 425 freeway through town ?

Either way it’s a really stupid ideea.

The GTA West corridor (it hasn’t been assigned a 400 series number yet) is proposed to run through a new greenfield development area on the west side of Brampton.

Brampton is asking the province to have the highway turn into a 10 lane urban boulevard through the area to support an “urban form” or whatever. Brampton is now planning a bunch of high density uses right along this “boulevard”.

It’s monumentally stupid and will not achieve either the cities goal of creating a more urban environment or the provinces goal of moving goods. I honestly don’t understand it. The boulevard would be a huge traffic bottleneck that eliminates most of the benefits of the corridor, and would create a massive traffic sewer that would probably be worse for pedestrians than a more standard 6 lane freeway.

A more reasonable ask should be more freeway crossings and more pedestrian friendly interchanges.

Brampton and Halton Hill Councils should both get voted out for this monstrous waste of money. I used to like Patrick Brown but this might be it. I can’t imagine if he didn’t get booted.

Yup. Brampton council needs to go stand on the side of Highway 50 and see how they feel. Then picture that with two additional lanes of traffic. That is what they are proposing.. just a lose-lose all around. Except the developers in the area who don't get as much land expropriated for the highway..

Picture this but 50% wider, and way, way more congested. What does this achieve?

Does MTO always win in a conflict situation like this?

So this is why... I guess Halton Hills Council got lobbied too?

Increased development charges through high density residential as highway fronting employment lands tend to sit vacant for some time and have an uncertain future. At least that's the only thing that comes to mind for me...

5:57 The passing lanes are rather short there.

Way too short to be of any use. Maybe that short distance is for another purpose?

I have ridden that on my motorcycle.
Those passing lanes are good enough for me to have passed people.

Ah, one car and that’s it, which is probably expected because of the low traffic in Gaspésie

Its convenient to pass slow vehicules in the summer but its not meant to be a passing zone , it's for a rest area and observatory entrance/exit on the left side (river side).
