You'd think they'd ask if it was within their jurisdiction before spending taxpayers' money on a plan?!?

are they though? they took off the most logical tolls on new infrastructure...

they play politics, that's what they do; tolling Downtown Vancouver would not play well into that plan.

Yeah, well, Bowinn Ma said this: "I have to be clear: it’s not in our platform … and John Horgan has stated very clearly today that it would not be supported by our government" when asked about congestion charges during the campaign.

Yeah, I lost whatever little faith I had in these kinds of statements after Gordon Campbell's promises about HST and BC Rail. The straighter the face, the bigger the betrayal.

Of course Gordon Campbell discovered the wrath of the electorate after being bold enough to blatantly break those promises. And maybe the current crowd are smart enough to learn from history. Or maybe they're not...

First thought that crossed my mind too. I suppose the city would argue that virtual-signaling is a productive exercise for society.

That, and they would hide behind semantics.

There needs to be something for the army of communications staff hired since Gregor Robertson's reign to do.

Yup - up and down escalators - and notice the separate alignment for the stairs?
They are not beside the escalators.

I also don't see the air gap at the top of the curtain wall like on the other stations.

6 fare gates? Not even Brighouse or Brdway/Cityhall has that many! That's too good to be true!

I wouldn't chiefly pin this on the "power of Richmond real estate". Keep in mind all of the other things that have advanced in the 10 years since the Canada Line was built, including engineering design, LED lighting technology, the public reputation of TransLink as an organization, public opinion on how the Canada Line was built, ease of accessing capital funding, and the overall ridership on our system.

All of these contribute to Capstan's solid design, and are also reflected on other recent improvements such as Surrey Central's north stationhouse and the revamped Joyce Station.

When final design renders are up for the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain stations (which are currently at an earlier design stage than Capstan), we will again be very impressed.

Really hoping they stick with the black and wood colour scheme and only use TransLink blue as absolutely necessary. Excellent colour scheme, gives me a Nordic kind of simple elegance vibe.

Also very much approve of the stairwell and escalators being offset. This is such a pain at stations like Richmond Brighouse where you have a massive jam because there is zero seperation.

The design is really nice. Small touches, but really such an upgrade from the other Canada Line stations. Gives me vibes of the beautiful Joyce-Collingwood reno.

I have some hope for the Broadway stations.

Is that a cafe on the left as you enter the station?

Yes, I guess Tim Hortons or Starbucks.
