They have a lot more of it done now, and it does look pretty darned nice. I am glad that a few Canadian companies (especially ones founded in Ottawa like GT and Farmboy) are doing so well. It will be interesting to see what their new campus/complex is like when it's done.

My friend is an IT professional who was approached to design the network in their new building. They were insisting on going pure wireless instead of running LAN cables. This would be unprecedented for a corporate office building. It would be the ultimate cheap out and would be incredibly unreliable for such an enterprise. I wonder what other corners they will cut?

A guy who gets paid to design wires for a building thinks wireless is unreliable? Say it ain't so!

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to connections in my home (if it doesn't move it gets a wire unless impossible), but at my workplace I've spent countless hours on the wireless, sometimes without even realizing it (i.e. my machine was docked but the LAN cable behind disconnected) and have never encountered any issues or performance trouble. 802.11ax will help even more.

It wasn't the WiFi that surprised him, most office buildings have it and he would have put it in, it's the fact that they wanted the entire network wireless only with no wires installed at all. He said he's never seen a new office building without wired Lan in his 25 years in the industry.

Maybe he will see it a lot more often in the next 25 years in the industry.

Nice to see both a Canadian retailer and Ottawa-based business grow and invest in the city!

Thanks for the post, J.OT13. This looks great.
Solid looking skin/envelope spec and installation. Much better than a certain cheaply clad Byward Market hotel I won't dump on during my office hours.
