Sounds like you initially purchased the JR 1 bed. I know someone who also had a walkthrough in Sept, and the doors were not yet installed.

It was advertised as a 1 bedroom though. I guess that’s why there’s a lawsuit.

What floors/rooms are they at now for Orientations? Any indication that they'll actually be ready by mid-November?

I called the city of bby about the completion process. There are two permits. Thind only got a foundation permit and the other one looks like have not submitted yet since the officer said it depends on the developer. I don't think it will be completed on mid-Nov

I’m guessing the second permit needed is the Occupancy Permit. Does anyone have more knowledge/insights as to why Thind may be taking so long to submit their Occupancy Permit?

Also, in the case completion is late (not completed before end of 2020 as stated in the contracts) what compensations will we get?

nothing, read your contract- everything is pro developer- they can blame covid and say that's why it took too long.

Also, im quite concerned that thind cannot get the permit- is something wrong with the building? so un professional that they keep giving us dates they cannot meet. Why even send an email?

There are several steps about the occupation permit, however MLA just said it depends on the city without any update about it. But the city of bby told me it depends on the developer.
I am curious Thind is really working on that?

Who knows time will tell. Well at least it gives us more time and hopefully interest rates fall more lol...

I just emailed MLA and keep calling them for the permit, they told me it will be next two weeks three months ago, I don't believe them now... and I think they will delay our orientation walk-through again because of COVID-19...

Which developer does not want to turn over their investment to buyers in the
fastest possible way? They each have their own reasons for delays. I was most impatient for Shape's Amazing Brentwood, but in the end they delivered the best uncompromising product . Please be patient with Lumina .... best things come last as they say.

I get the delay part. Most developments have delays. The frustrating and almost disrespectful part is the awful communications. We’ve been getting emails every month for the past 4 months saying completion in the coming 2 weeks.

That completely messes up our planning. Planning for furniture, mortgage, insurance, vacation days, and so much more.

If they came out and just said, completion not expected till January 2021. At least I know what to expect and can plan accordingly.

What was the communications like for Shape leading up to completion?

I totally understand the delay issue they are facing right now. But their false notification saying that be prepare for the next 2 weeks did ruin our plan.
We've been having a short term rental now so that we need to always change plan with our landlord and always plan to move around.

Absolutely agree, I don't know if it's just poor communication between Thind and MLA but why would they have contacted us all the way back in May and keep on telling us completion is within in weeks when in reality the place is nowhere near done?!?
Thank goodness I'm not renting right now but I totally feel for those that are and thought that they would have long been moved into their new place.
I bought at Starling and have not even had my home orientation to date. I wish I at least have dimensions for the rooms so I can buy/preorder some furniture pieces during the year end sales.

call again to MLA and they said the developer has the last inspection today. If it is smooth, we may get an update next week.

Maybe end of November if lucky. Some people still haven’t viewed their place.
