Looks like the site for Olympia is all set to start digging and shoring. Anyone have updates on this?

I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of that razed area....because it's right next to the fwy, where thousands of cars pass by each hour (at least before covid), it's one of the most visible sections of dtla. Just seeing it open & clear is a nice, long overdue change.
this other part of dt, one block from city hall, used to be another deadzone, dark, lifeless & unappealing....

this current time is throwing everything & everyone for a loop...I don't know how things will turn out, but was surprised to read a few wks ago that condo sales in dt are actually doing ok, covid or no covid. So who knows what the future holds?
something odd about this moment, however, like the winning of the lakers not long ago on the heels of the dodgers winning today. But it doesn't feel real...seems more like a movie we're all in....like an altered reality.
charles dickens in the 1800s...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

Dicken's london in 2020 is a mostly lifeless, empty, peopleless place, like the scene out of a scifi movie. Cities in many other parts of the world are going through the same thing...very strange time....
dtla in some ways is seeing the best of times, the worst of times. Land next to the fwy is finally cleaned up, a new gym in the shadow of city hall has opened, the old tower theater is being converted to an apple store....but grand central mkt is a ghost town, museums are closed, the music ctr is vacant, stores are shuttered, hotels are empty, restaurants are barren. Like a bad Hollywood movie. This movie needs a happy ending.
