Still an iconic building: love it! Like many others, we wish it could be taller so it can at least show up in a distant skyline photo shoot. But alas, let's get real: this is Vancouver where everything can only meet half its potential. People here can't stand high-flyers and will literally ground you if you over-achieve, pun intended.

Would the effect of the boxes “get lost” or would their “compression” give rise to a new and compelling effect, creating a building that tells a more dynamic and varied story than the current one does as the eye travels upwards?

Unfortunately, we will never truly learn the answer to whether the building would look as good at 90 metres as it would at 190 metres, since city policy forbade any other potentially delicious possibilities.

I agree 100% with Prometheus. I am a 'Higher the better' fan when it comes to coaxing a city on to be 'worldly'. For those that think a city does not need height, sure, there are your classics throughout Europe, but even they are getting tall now. Just simply visit Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Brisbane, Australia has hopped on the skyward bandwagon and their cities are 'Worldly' We got's mountains to hike, literally and figuratively.

The view in the first pic below will not exist in a few years. Hopefully Deloitte Summit will be 100% done before anything gets in the way so we can document the completed building from this angle for posterity.

I'm a fan of this tower, too. It's a welcome departure from conventional building design and a great addition to the architectural variety of the city.

Yes the back sections are unprecedented for sure. These walls have operable vents that allow a person room to climb into wall! A cladding panel will be applied to finish these areas.

This is such a funky looking tower, I love it!

It actually looks like something you would see in Osaka or Tokyo.

Experimental but with conservative hard lines and edges.

With the glass put on it, this tower suddenly looks very interesting and original. Modest in height, but still a nice addition to "the downtown buildings club."
