A self inflicted "nightmare" no less. Hopefully the wrecking ball swings before Oct 1st. Also for the commercial building directly across the street.

Too bad her lawyer didn't propose another deal to the city. As I posted upthread, the house right next door to her was for sale for under $400k earlier this year. She should have bought that and made a deal with the city that any unused portion of her current lot be conveyed to her after the construction is done. She would still essentially be a corner lot, with more space for her overgrown "natural pollinator garden". I'll have to remember that phrase if the city ever comes and tells me my lot is looking a little ragged lol.

I wonder what the city is going to do with that lot after construction anyway?

That would have made great sense, unfortunately this lady was given some terrible advice along the way. I wonder in the end how much this fight cost her directly, everyone involved had to know there was zero chance the property was going to be saved it just was not possible.

Happy to see things finally sorted lets get construction going

I drove this stretch yesterday afternoon and can confirm things are happening. One lane was restricted and there were a lot of people working on both sides of the street.
Long overdue, but happy to see things moving in the right direction

Yeah, I came down there this afternoon. Not as bad as I thought traffic would be. The road was dug up on the northbound side right around The Ridgeway or maybe north of that. The empty lot on the west side where Nan's house is (was?) proposed to move to has construction fence around it. Not sure if the plan is to still try to move that house there or not now. Still unsure of why GardaWorld security is still sitting in her former driveway.

Looks like the fencing is going up around the building north of the old lady's house on the corner. Could be prep for demolition.

Wonder when the Patterson billboards on south side of track will be removed? A lot of prep can get done this winter ahead of heavy work starting.

Demolition of commercial building is underway. Should be down by end of this week.

The commercial building across from the old ladies house is gone. Clearing the basement walls and back filling the hole is left. Also the commercial building on the SW corner of Springbank and Wharncliffe has now been demolished. Clearing the last pieces of it now too.

No progress on the building demolition across from the old ladies house. Looks like crews are still on holiday break. House is also untouched with no sign of any activity like fencing going up.

Drove by the area on the weekend and it feels so desolate. Houses demolished on the north side of the tracks, the bridal shop gone. Even the Money Mart is gone (good riddance) but it just feels empty without it.

Old lady's house still remains but it is likely next to go. It's the last building around the overpass still intact.

Old ladies house is still standing. Demolition company is back with heavy equipment as they backfill the basement hole for old commercial building.

Hopefully their demolished 100 Stanley and rip up that overgrown weed growth she called a garden soon. It will be interesting when the project is underway. Horton & Wharncliffe will need to be closed for some length of time to drop the road grade 6-8 feet as proposed.
