To keep it within the bounds of Stage 2, it could certainly be done west of Tunnies. One issue from a cost perspective is that the transitway trench is quite a bit wider than what is being dug for the O-Train, and covering that wider trench would be considerably more expensive (the longer the cross supports, the stronger they need to be, so the cost does not increase linearly).
East of Tunnies the trench only extends for a few hundred meters until about Stirling Ave (after that it comes to the surface and crosses above Bayview Station Rd. With bridges at Holland, Parkdale, Hinchey, and Carruthers, the benefit for covering the trench east of Tunnies is reduced.
