Passed the site today and it looked like there was a fresh gravel path/road leading down to the centre of the site which has a large gravel square. Maybe setting up for a ground breaking ceremony?

Have you ever tried to communicate with long time City staff. They have their own language, city speak, where they say a lot but nothing that you can pin them down on.

I don't think it is related to the LRT because they were getting access from the west side and a ceremony for breaking ground seems likely.
This project might be getting closer to reality!

Biked by earlier today and groundbreaking ceremony was the first thing that popped into my head as well. The gravel square in the middle of the lot seems like a dead giveaway.

I honestly can’t contain my excitement. 65 storeys is gonna change this city forever. One could argue Icon did that but it’s far enough away from the CBD that the effect is somewhat dampened.

I reckon this is Stage 2 - they just put gravel down for an access road. My guess is they are going to build the bridge over the Trillium Line tracks and they are doing geotechnical exploration and foundations for the east side piers. They will leave the bridge "floating" until the towers are built.

The pedestrian bridge will come straight out of the second floor of the podium that connects Tower 1 and 2. The action on site today looks like it's happening right where the foundations of Tower 1 will be built. I have a strong feeling Tower 1 is going to be the first to be built because it is the linchpin of the project when it comes to transit access.

So does that mean this project is technically U/C?
Or can they start the construction of this bridge with the podium not yet up?

It looks like the groundbreaking is imminent. I don't see any way they could be setting up for the bridge alone right now without starting the first phase.
