Yeah it actually reminds me a lot of the skyline of Port Louis, Mauritius. Very beautiful.

For a smaller city that I have never been to, I have a lot of mental associations with Kingston. As soon as I come across it, all of those things come to mind... The Hip... Douggie Gilmour... Prisoners... Queen's University... Students... The Frontenacs… water... the old capital...

Anyway, nice pictures!

To add to that association, the Aria condos (the curved building) has a lawn bowling club right in front of it. It's been there since 1928, and the City was going to sell the land to developers, but a public outcry saved it.

Also, two blocks up the road there is a rooftop beach volleyball court beside the outdoor pub seating at the Strathcona hotel:

The new lrt station will help but that area still needs about 20/30 years.

Nice Edmonton aerials. I tried to count the 200 metre+ towers (to reference the graphic below), but I lost I count. Any updates welcome.

City Planning news - Waterfront to Bloor-Yorkville skyline: with 34 built and u/c 200 metre+ skyscrapers
and 29 more proposed, Toronto City Planning is targeting 16 of the 29 proposals for approval and completion,
in order to round out the list at an even 50 (after which the new and improved Crombie bylaw will restrict future proposal heights @ 41.87 metres).

Special Note: bankrupt Cresford Developments’ properties continue to be sold by the receiver, including Pemberton’s September purchase
of 33 Yorkville. The property will host an even taller tower than approved, subject to an increase in spandrel exterior cladding of approximately 73%).

200 metre + built (22), under construction (12), proposed (29)

steveve

Honourable mentions elsewhere:
Humber Bay 200m+: 1 built, 4 proposed
Yonge - Eglinton 200m+: - 2 proposed
Just missed: 195m to 199m - 3 built and 2 proposed
(figures do not include Mississauga ;-)

Regarding Toronto 200m+ buildings, many years ago I remember predicting 50 200m+ buildings in Toronto by 2025. It increasingly looks like I wasn't that far off. According to the SSP database there are 23 Built and 9 Under Construction so we'll have 32 by 2025. Of the 35 200m+ Proposals a good third of them will see shovels in the ground in the next 2 years and top out by 2025. That would get Toronto to roughly 44 200m+ Buildings completed. Toronto could easily have more than that and this isn't even including Vaughan and Mississauga.

I guess I'll check it in 2025.

OMG, it does. I never made that comparison before. I was in Brisbane 7 months ago.

Great shots.

I visited downtown Edmonton this summer for the first time in 5 years. Some great changes, and decades of potential to go.
