^
More-or-less what happened along 108 Street after they completed the streetscape. Poorly maintained overall, always late to pick up the accumulated garbage that blows out of the open cans. Poorly designed ground level vegetation that has been stomped into oblivion and covered in a layer of cigarette butts.

As usual, pretty good execution, then completely drops the ball when it comes to basic civic maintenance.

People avoid downtowns during covid, much more pronounced in Edmonton than else where.

I have to agree unfortunately. Taken it upon myself (DECL) to maintain a few spaces ourselves, especially with less maintenance during COVID. I don't know what the solution is, operations has failed to prioritize Downtown or any new streetscaping really.

Also - 10004-113st - Funeral home parking lot.



10004 113 Street is a proposal for a 7-storey residential building on 113 Street and 100 Avenue in Oliver, by the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and Hastings Ilagan Design. The site is currently a parking lot behind the Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home.

This would be an amazing addition to that prominent corner in Old Strathcona. I like how they maintain the heritage building at the corner and build around it.

Re: Brewery District Tower (looks like a purpose-built rental) - developer is working on the excavation and shoring permit at the moment, so it is still a go at the moment.

Noticed that the "Pending" signs are now "Sold" signs on the strip of land adjacent to Gateway Blvd and between 34 Ave and the motor hotels.
Anybody know what's being planned for that long, narrow parcel?

The last site plan idea was another multi-access strip mall.
