Yes, you can see skytrain retail centre improvements over time here in Metro Vancouver. I suppose designers here are learning along the way. From the blank wall of the New West Station shopping plaza, to the improved street accessibility of the Marine Gateway, and now Brentwood Mall. One can really see the improvements of street presence and overall aesthetics.

I saw the rooftop lighting on the condos the other night.
They're just spotlights point down from the rim of the mechanical penthouse, so looks like an afterthought.
One was a solid colour while the other was a sequence of rainbow colours, like an old school disco light.

2020-09-26_06-05-41 by snub_you, on Flickr

don't seem to see much happening in there - could the green parts be video screens?

I think this signage on the left is new

My guess is that the green panels on the H&M are access openings to load construction materials into the space.
All the brown panels adjacent are temporary.

Urban Outfitter is opening in 2021 and not 2020? I wonder why it's that late.

I work for the Save-on-Foods head office, and there are rumblings about a new Urban Fare opening in the lower mainland but the company has been very hush hush about where for now. Brentwood makes sense to me, I can't think of another neighbourhood outside downtown where that brand would fit.

There's already a Save-on-Foods just a block down Lougheed, though; Would they really cannibalize their own market?

Metrotown has a Save-On-Foods ( at the old Orchard Shopping Ctr.) and a PriceSmart (Station Square) within almost a literal stone's throw away from each other (- or at least at a comparable distance apart as the Lougheed Save-On is from Brentwood).
And both owned by the same folks (Overwaitea Food Group/Jim Pattison)

In fact the PriceSmart occupies what used to be the original Save-On location which moved while Station Square was under construction.
And there don't seem to be any plans at the moment to get rid of either.

So it's not unheard of.

Now granted, you could argue that the target demographics and customerbase for both are slightly different (especially the PriceSmart), but there's enough cross-over to suggest they could be "cannibalizing" each other, but in reality probably aren't.

There's only one space in the current new phase of Amazing brentwood that would fit an Urban Fare - and that's the big space fronting the plaza in purple below.
Would Shape have the guts to put a grocery store in such a prime retail location? It would generate incredible foot traffic for the plaza.
I also wonder if that was the space that Steve Nash would have occupied. If so, a grocery store would be much better.

I wonder where indigo was supposed to go.

So they have some new signage up and i noticed that H&M have work orders pinned outside so there is some work going on.n Also to the north of Adidas is some work going on, one of the doors was off or open and shows stairs that go down to the parking, then the rest of the area is open to view. a small retail space according to the diagram above.

And again I noticed people pulling on the door to McDonalds, they should have kept the fence up. They are also installing McCafe signas below the M Signs. And the plaza was full of people, pretty amazing considering there is nothing really there yet. Rec Room had a lot of work going on, The RBC also being worked on and the giant video screen has been tarped off.

I think parking lot access and loading docks would be important for a supermarket. Not sure what the setup is for that CRU.

Great pics, thanks.

The wooden stairs and retaining wall look like a temporay solution until the next phase starts up on that site.

The plantings look really lush - reminds me of Southern California lifestyle centres (i.e. Newport Fashion island)

The stone cladding at the corner of Tower 3 looks great.

The music will help drown out street noise.

Just all the suggestive made-up names so they don't get sued.

Quin => Equinox.
Cloud Morrocco => Club Monaco
etc.

Wonder when they will start Tower 5? I mean since Solo is already planning their 4 th and last tower. I see signs where you can register for Tower4 .
