So you think SSPers like MolsonExport, rousseau and myself are the type of forum user that's undesirable, while thin-skinned Albertans who always turn the tiniest quasi-imagined slight against Calgary/Alberta into a crazy shitstorm are the type of SSPer that this forum should want more of...?

Good thing you're not in charge here

Interestingly, you, rousseau and I are all way more educated than the guy calling us idiots. I would also call us smarter (which definitely isn't always aligned with educational achievement, but one can easily tell from your posts and from rousseau's posts that you're highly intelligent people).

In my mind it's pretty clear that the problem (namely, regular creation of needless drama) lies with him - he's always the common denominator to these shitstorms.

No, neither are good, but the trolls like you and the aforementioned fuckwits constantly putting out the bait are the ones we need less. Since, you know, I actually contribute to the forum with information, always have, and have even represented cities that I don't live in because they're not represented here. You on the other hand are just a bait trolling bitch who incessantly brings up arguments that were laughable even 6 years ago (that Montreal is just as coastal as Vancouver is a good one you bring up regularly ) and now conjuring new ones to derail the forum for months on end. If this forum shouldn't have me, it sure as fuck shouldn't have you. My biggest point of guilt in this farce is that I take your troll bait too often.

Facts are facts.

This forum was better when you were on my ignore list. You were still a troll baiting bitch literally every single day, but at least I didn't have to see it. So for the sake of this forum, I'll be the bigger person throw you back on ignore, since you refuse to change or grow as a person despite your advanced age. Good luck, sweet biscuit.

Edit: as a PS to MX, you tormented me on here for years, even just for little things like me saying "woot" or " " and other tiny, pedantic things, including my occasional use of the word "pedantic" actually, all while knowing full well I had considerable mental health issues which I have always been honest about (but not effectively treated til like 2 years ago). I'll never apologize or feel bad for treating you like the asshole that you have proven yourself to be over ten years on this forum.

Chad has great strengths and great weaknesses (as he just acknowledged) as a poster on this forum and member of this community. Personally, I think the posters that he mentioned also contribute (albeit in varying degrees) to this forum (with a special recognition of MolsonExport, who is a long-time contributor and who I've always considered to be respectful and productive in his posts).

All that said, I don't understand the posters who are well aware of Chad's weaknesses and seem determined to exploit those weaknesses in order to antagonize and provoke him. What does this accomplish other than your own amusement? And, frankly, (speaking just personally of course) this type of behavior makes one wonder about those posters motives when they make other mildly provocative posts (which, coming from a different poster, would not cause me to bat an eye).

Anyway, I've said my peace (felt compelled to say something as I stupidly instigated this particular round of bickering.)

Speaking as a new forum user, Chad you need to chill out. You may think everyone else is trolling you, and maybe they are. But your angry diatribes full of foul language are the most obvious trolling I've seen over the last several pages here.

Do you honestly think I could have foreseen what happened when I dared point out that one particular view highlighted a striking contrast between single detached wooden shacks a mere few blocks from a massive office tower that's taller than anything in Montreal?

It's a discussion forum. When you see something that seems worthy of a comment or a question (like Winnipegger "Biff" did recently), you make that comment or question, and then the people who are familiar with the place being discussed will reply (like a few Montrealers did in their replies to Biff, without any drama).

Feels weird to have to be the one adapting to the fact that there's one person here who's extraordinarily thin-skinned, rather than simply discussing normally, like adults would. I think I'll continue to do the latter, as always.

You're right man. It all comes from somewhere though, and it needed to be said. I'm done now though.

Thanks for being the voice of reason again, Pav!

Edit: gonna wait for a less dumpster-fiery page to post that photo.

I wasn't referring to that post. I was referring to posts like this:

No issue with MolsonEx's contribution to the forum, but in terms of temperament I'd be more likely to describe him as someone who doesn't always suffer fools gladly!

He and I being pretty much the same age, I'd say people tend to get more and more like that as we grow older.

The problem with that is I've never been a fool on here. Unlike Lio, when I have said something uneducated about a city/place in the past and was then presented correct information, I apologized and amended my views accordingly. A fool is someone who cannot learn from their mistakes or admit their own fault. Similarly to you and MX not suffering fools, I don't suffer douchebags, and that sentiment has only gotten stronger with my mental health recovery.

Whoda thought that discussions on societal accommodation for pre-transition trans people or systemic racism would be a level or two less heated than a simple chat about Canadian city skylines?

"Fools" in the case of that figure of speech is not meant to be taken literally, nor as referring to anyone on here in particular!

Thanks.

Who would have thought my simple observation (I didn't think it had any negative vibes) from an interesting picture of Montreal would have sparked a couple of pages of bickering.

I have not been to Montreal yet. I don't know the lay of the land and the picture looks like a 90 degree angle of skyscrapers. After looking at the area on Google Earth I see that there are rail lines there that probably contribute to this areas appearance.

...I thought the image was pretty cool by the way. I love the way the towers crowd the Bell Centre.

I thought your observation was an interesting one. It's interesting how so much of Montreal contrasts in that way with a city like Toronto.

Oh, no offence taken at all. Just taking an opportunity for self-deprecation.

I’m surprised anyone would join the forum at this point. It’s an embarrassment what’s happening now.
