Calling this an "LRT" is really an insult.

I agree. I try to avoid that term at all costs.

Rideau was looking gross pre-pandemic but it clearly got worse. They need to do something to hide that mess.

It's a real sticking point for me. I feel like this is not normal in a new system, or even an old system (don't remember anything like that in Montreal or Vancouver). It ruins the experience.

When the reporter pushes for more info, i.e. how many new attendants vs former ambassadors, Pat Scrimgeour indicates that at busy stations where people could expect to see 3-4 ambassadors, they might se 2 attendants.

Clearly, that doesn't really drive with the 12 figure given. Will there be part-time attendants as well? The reporter ran out of questions.

For audio of meeting and media availability:

https://otrain.railfans.ca/news/confederation-line-update-transit-commission-september-16-2020
I think "might" is key there. From what I understand, they held an open competition for 12 full-time positions. These positions might go to former ambassadors, and it is probable that some will, but other employees could have applied.

The positions are expected to work split shifts, so while you "might" see 2 people at some stations, it's more likely you'll see 0.

Double elevators is the standard for redundancy when there is no alternate option. If you look around the stations, there is never a place you could get "trapped" by a single elevator being unavailable, there is always another elevator or a ramp, except the north tower at Blair with it's old elevator. OC is actively retrofitting older Transitway stations with ramps where possible to backup the elevators, we saw one open at South Keys SB when the Airport Parkway Bridge opened, and one at Lycee Claudel NB as part of the refurbishment work detour last summer.

Yeah, I think the biggest reason that everyone calls it “the LRT” is because the media keeps calling it that. I remember reading one article that said something along the lines of “LRT riders can transfer to the O-Train at Bayview Station”.

O-Train or even Metro. Because being francophone most of my friends and I call ''Métro'' when talking about it in french. Never heard ''TLR'' from a francophone.
Even if LRT sounds better in english, the term is factually incorrect.
Our network is fully grade seperated, frequency of service is metro like (4min), our trains are 100m long tram-trains, we have 4 underground stations with 1 more coming on stage 2, and speeds will go up to 100km/h on stage 2.
So yes quite the insult to call it an LRT.

French media tends to call it "train-léger".

Manconi seems to be one of the only officials who avoids the term in favour of things like "rail system" or "railroad" and comparing it to subways in other jurisdictions as opposed to other LRTs.

Maybe I am more confused than most, but isn't the new line an LRT with LRVs? If so, what is wrong with saying LRT?

Our system's full grade separation, speed, frequency and ultimate capacity is uncommon with classic LRT and has more in common with light-metro systems like Vancouver's SkyTrain or the REM.

I believe that, within official terminology, light-metro would best describe the Confederation Line.

The Trillium Line is a beast of its own, quite different from anything else in the world, so I don't know what terminology would best describe it.

I've heard "urban train" thrown around before - that seems like it fits. Similar to the London Overground (minus the electrification). Or maybe "suburban rail"?

So if you guys thought the door problem was fixed you got it all wrong. Just hoped off a train that got blocked because the driver couldn't isolate a malfunctioning door, on a Saturday at 8pm (0 traffic).
The worst in this story is that no one touched the doors
