WOW! These projects look AMAZING! I hope we can still somehow get Meow Wolf and Atari hotels. In the RO2 brouchure, it looks like there's a rendering of the Atari hotel on the corner of 1st and Portland.

Also if you drive by McDowell, Little O's (OHSO's property) is getting done fairly quickly.

Yes but it’ll be years and years before this grows. Desert Ridge is MUCH closer in - especially to the air park and still isn’t filled out as envisioned over 30 years ago.

The NE corner of I-17/L303 is zoned similarly and so far has only managed to attract one employer over about 20 years. It’s to the point where they are now re-zoning a lot of what was supposed to be the ‘core’ for the North Gateway village - which had height limits up to 200ft at one point...

Not to mention that Peoria is planning an airport just west of there - which would ultimately put some limitations on the types of buildings that could be put here.

I dunno - I think the city of PHX should put more focus on things that they planned and never completed before opening up this for this kind of development. I just don’t see why I’d choose to build a campus for my company there vs in many of the spaces available much closer in...

Nothing looks changed or updated when I look at it. Unfortunately, I'm going to be a negative Nancy here and say, I dont think half these buildings are going to be built by True North.

Especially if they stopped the Knipe Housr 5 story Office. They had a deadline of December from the city officials to break ground on the RO2 office highrise. I dont believe that's going to happen anymore. As sad as that makes me.

They're building that Moon Tower on the site where the Meow Wolf hotel was supposed to be, right?

Wasn't the second tower originally supposed to be 359 ft before it was increased?

Did their meeting include any photo-realistic renderings of the project? If anyone has a link to their presentation, please post!

The meeting was rushed for Astra since they spent 40 minutes discussing FOOD TRUCKS!! Insane!!!!

They had a few renderings, however they didn't keep them for more then a second due to the rush

I wonder if a records request could be submitted for the renderings?

I've been checking the SCB website almost daily to see if there are any renderings, but had had no luck finding anything.

It would only come back with what was submitted with the original site development plan, so nothing new would be available.

In regards to the 2nd tower, yes it has been raised to 415'ish. I suspect Mr. Woods was either not updated on the proposed changes or they may have been changed again. I've sent an email to Nick Woods to see if the renderings are available. I will post them if they are available.

I think you guys all need to relax on true north.

There plans were always extremely ambitious and they have been much more legitimate than I ever expected.

It’s a huge multi year multi project endeavor, just because there has not been any heavy equipment in a couple weeks does not mean that the project is dead.

And economically in the reverse of 2008 Phoenix metro is actually weathering the current economic fallout better than almost any other major metro.

Everyone read that post twice to make sure you get it.

Downtown Phoenix is a weird micro-economy. A lot of business both current and future are very dependent on people's disposable income. Most people have slowed spending and it's a worst-case scenario for boutiques, bars, and hip/fun restaurants. Developers aren't going to build unless the bottom line looks good and right now the prospect of building hotels, retail and nightlife space isn't too attractive.

There should be no surprise that things are being re-evaluated. It'll happen or it wont.

Del Rio landfill site may be redeveloped into produce market, park

Nice to see some development, besides industrial/business parks, along the Salt River in the South Side. Turning an old landfill site into a produce market is a step in the right direction...

For example

https://azbigmedia.com/business/ariz...-drops-to-5-9/

Arizona gained 80k jobs in august with a 5.9% unemployment rate, National is currently at 8.4%

Again the economic damage of the pandemic is arbitrarily inflicted, it is more like a supply or war shock then something we are used too (2008).

Try north may well be pausing their construction of office but we went from all time highs to all time lows and back to something more like a standard recession in 6 months, it’s pretty wild give companies a second to get on solid ground.
