I just found this thread recently - really good one.
It will be interesting to see how this Stoney Tr./Hiway 1 interchange will look from the air - it will probably look like a bowl of spaghetti - as in complicated - but it is really quite a neat project. No mention of traffic lights anywhere - so that's a good sign that it's all free flow. Awesome

It's a system interchange so no lights! When this is done it should look really cool but it shouldn't be complicated. Coming from the south down the hill and then flying over Highway 1 is what I'm really looking forward to seeing. That might end up being one of the biggest wow factors of this entire freeway.

It is less impressive than the design it copies, the Gateway/Henday interchange that has already existed for 10+ years... you can see an aerial of that one here in the interim, or the Henday/Yellowhead interchange that dwarfs them both here.

It wasn't a rhetorical question. I honestly don't know how it works with land uses. Are they supposed to be so difficult to change that it rarely happens?

Compensation seems like a nebulous thing. It feels like it's always perceived value lost rather than grounded in reality. How many of the people who have complained about recent developments (the ring road, West LRT, Shawnee Slopes, and so on) have actually seen their property values plummet? Has there been any research done on this?

You also have people who aren't actually interested in compensation and just want to stall development and make it as difficult as possible. Metis Trail comes to mind, or whoever owns this lot on James McKevitt. They seem like generally unpleasant people.

Agreed, so why does this owner hold on so hard to the lot? Make a deal with the city or something...you give me a new driveway or two and I'll give you a corner of the lot to improve the intersection and some frontage for a sidewalk.

The photos are very underwhelming. If you look at the image properties you can get some info for some of the pics but it's not always very helpful. Image 1 is Bridge 41 prep. If you happen to know where Bridge 41 is then I guess that's helpful.

I haven’t listened to the audio portion yet, but from the slides it looks like by winter the road will be open from Highway 8 down to Fish Creek Blvd.

Winter?! The target date is October 1, has always been October 1, and there is no reason to believe that has changed based on the progress thus far and the hours they are cramming in recent weeks. Not sure why everyone is oblivious to this.

Not sure why the westbound lanes of 22x are shown as closed over Macleod Trail . . . these are finished and have been open all summer. [Video states these lanes will be closed just during the summer of 2021 to complete the remaining work]

The video talks about the roads in green opening this fall. 22x to Fish Creek Blvd to open by October 2021.
