The right half of that picture is so pretty and then you look to the left with those depressing office buildings which could use a proper reclad and that hideous monstrosity

Haha - honestly no although I was fully aware of how it might be taken in the current climate. I decided not to call it a “wooden shack”.
I’m just curious what that building is in St. Johns.

This is so true. Two thirds of that picture is pure beauty. A North American original that oozes charm. The left third is just.......depressing. The STJ city planners of yesterday must be spinning in their graves.

I don’t recall ever seeing that before, almost looks like it was photoshopped in at the wrong scale.

For the record, as a Calgarian, I took no offence to Lio’s post.
Now let’s see more skyline photos people.
It's The Rooms, the provincial museum of Newfoundland. It is a PoMo era structure designed to mimic the buildings of Newfoundland outports.

Regardless of the intent, the unfortunate result was more parody than mimicry.

OK Halifax, I know you like your sightlines and your invisible Citadel, but bear with me for a second... you are one Commerce Court North and one 1250 R-L away from literally looking like San Francisco. It's time to level up.

LOL, Moncton's only missing a harbour and few more highrise buildings to get that true San Francisco vibe!

There soon won't be a reason to head to the Caribbean if you live in the Maritimes due to climate change, apparently.

Personal opinion is like asshole but man, Calgary tower looks like something out of disneyland - skyline would look more mature without it. Every time I see it, it reminds me of a small town with big town ambitions, nothing city-like about it.
No offence, love the cgy skyline.
That's not shade at all. Th Calgary Tower is hideous, I call it the Kentucky Fried Tower (because the pod looks like a bucket of KFC). However, I love going up the tower. Bing surrounded by taller towers and then the mountains in the background is a cool dichotomy, and I love doing my birthday dinner up in the revolving restaurant
