Thanks for posting the video and more construction pron.

The video really shows how massive the right-of-way actually is.

Last night, I noticed that KGL has installed a VMS at SB Sarcee at Glenmore. I think that the new overhead BGSs were creating confusion as the bridge to EB Glenmore is not open yet. The construction detour is still in effect for now. Lots of paving on Glenmore at 37th St as well. The centre median barrier was being poured. That machine is too cool, IMHO.

Wondered what they were doing and that's a great upgrade. Makes more sense now why they haven't widened that road sooner.

Why build a tunnel when you could just repaint the lane markings so the additional lanes are added on the left, people actually use them, and capacity is instantly increased by 50%!?

Or don't, I enjoy being able to overtake people while I go the speed limit in the right hand lane.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what they were doing there, the size of the equipment they are using is incredible. I can't recall the last project that had a D10 dozer on site. Those things are a major PITA to move. They had two very large excavators, but I couldn't see what models they were.

The ring road is partially open from Anderson Rd to Fish Creek Blvd (i.e 37th street). Costco is accessible from Buffalo Run Blvd/130 Ave. See the video posted by bittabola above

A little further west they have “upgraded” the TCH - HWY 22 interchange but the merging into/out of the PetroCan has not been addressed. They should have closed access directly from the TCH and forced people to use the interchange to access PetroCan. You could also add a proper ( i.e. long enough) merge lane from the PetroCan to TCH heading west.

A little off-topic, but as someone who isn't a local and has driven past the PetroCan many times, I've always wondered why do so many people park on the road around there? I'm guessing it's some sort of bus pickup for a mine or something?

It's a great spot to meet up with other people to carpool out to the mountains for hikes and such.

It's a dirt road with a decent amount of traffic, so anyone parked there for a multi-day hike or camping trip probably gets a dusty car in a hurry.

Looks like KGL is doing a realignment down in the SW on Monday. The two overpasses at McKevitt and 6th are to open.
