I think it’s futuristic looking and complements our skyline especially with the independent.

Yeah, this thing looks like it's out of an East Asian megalopolis.

4th & Brazos will complement it and provide a slender contrast.

Nothing's changed for me. It still needs changes before I can like it. Add some building materials other than glass.

Crazytown. It's really jarring to me -- and yeah completely belongs in MegaTokyo circa 1998X.

I was going to say it doesn't fit with our architecture, but -- I mean, holy shit -- between 5C, this thing and 4th and Brazos alone, Austin's lurching in a completely wild and different aesthetic direction. These just aren't designs you'd see in cities our size, especially not in Texas. And yet, here we are.

100%. Once this new round in the pipeline comes to fruition, I think we may actually start to become a nationally-recognized skyline. Not that any building in particular is such a landmark, but no other skyline as compact as ours is going to be so densely populated with 21st century buildings. Austin's going to be the most futuristic medium-sized skyline by a long shot.

I just think it's bland. Aside from the displacement, there's really nothing that jumps out to me.

Honestly I can't compare it to the Independent as it has multiple segments that are offset. Really the only criticism that I had originally with the Independent was that there weren't a few sections offset looking at it from the east or west, not just from the north and south. However, I like how from those angles it looks like a typical tower, then as you change direction it transforms into a totally different building.

This tower kinda looks like a bigger version of the W with an offset. The T. Stacy 5th @ Congress proposal back in the mid 2000s honestly had a more interesting design than this.

Who knows, if it even gets built to begin with, maybe I'll end up liking it, like I have with.... dare I say (and only slightly) coming around to sorta liking 405 Colorado...

looks more blue in that photo, looked a much darker blue or almost black in the other renderings. i think the more blue this is the more generic looking it will be. if this is done as high quality as the W I bet it will be a good looking building. definitely potential to be ugly though

On the note of the shade of blue, I like the fact that it's a darker building, which would contrast nicely (as does the W) with many of the lighter colors in our skyline.

From this angle it reminded me of a shoebill. I don't hate it, it's not my favorite building or the most trailblazing but it's fine.

I suppose I'm a sucker for the small details on this one. I really love that the glass ruffles over with each floor and the shade of blue/black. It's hulky. Mature. Brutalist. Honest. ...something we've needed for a long time.

I think we will see a lot of that within this next era for Austin. This will sound weird, but my measure for a mature skyline is looking at it with a b&w noir lens. Can you take our skyline seriously now? Can you hear the sax playing in the distance as the road-hard private eye sips scotch and hopes to crack the case??? I can't....

not sure if this makes sense or if I've just had too much coffee today.

Nice looking building. But, geez. Seriously?!?

May I suggest we stick to comparing Austin with other metros around 2.3 million in population instead of one that's almost exactly 10 times the size (and just so happens to be the world's financial/economic center).

As much as we want it, there is no economic driving force to produce starchitecture in Austin.

Umm yeah we are for sure not NYC. I’m just happy to see Austin get more dense.
