I've always thought I was close to median age in this forum but looks like I'm about a decade away from that until we get more forumers in their 20's ( and less forumers in their 60's) in the 2020s.

Another thing may be the the focus and subject matter discussed on this particular forum. This might be more attractive to male participants than female participants.

When I first started posting on SSP there was someone called PrairieGirl from Moose Jaw that posted regularly in the weather thread but she decided to pack it in several years ago, I haven't seen any posts from her account in quite a few years unfortunately

not surprised i'm on the young side for this forum. But surprised so few young people visit this site. I'm a member of NUMTOTs on facebook and urbanism, urban planning, transit etc all seem extremely popular among 18-35 year olds, maybe it's the nature of forums themselves being a dying medium.

Won't say my exact age as it's no ones business, all I'll say is I'm in my 20s.

Oh we exist, we just aren't vocal about it, also keep in mind no one specifically mentions their gender on this forum and they very well could be women behind the keyboard without knowing.

There seems to be a tendency online to always assume the person you are talking with is male unless proven otherwise, I get assumed to be male on this forum every single day despite that not being true at all.

Oh, I know there are more than a few women (besides you) who are contributing members of this forum, but I think it's a safe bet to say that it's overwhelmingly men (90+%) who while away the hours on this and other similar development forums.

I'm in my early 40s. I don't have hard numbers to back it up, but I suspect that when I joined this forum nearly 20 years ago, the average age was much younger, teens to early 30s. From local meetups and pictures of other meetups during those years, it felt like the typical user was either university/college-aged, or a recent graduate. These days it feels like the typical user is mid-career or older.

As I've pointed out before, this forum (and others like it, I guess) is a bit of a web 1.0 relic and it doesn't really attract a lot of younger people anymore. Which is OK with me, I don't think it would be 10x better if it had 10x the users.

I've been an active user on here since I was 14 - I'm 27 now. I would think that early start makes me an outlier on here.
