Hopefully UBC's big campus plans include a nice transit exchange, it certainly would help.
The tripling will be over 20 years, when UBCO plans to double in size. They are planning to put the new larger bus depot at John Hindle Drive and the Hollywood Road North extension.

Beautiful shot! Thanks for sharing.

Here is another newly proposed light commercial and residential development planned for Ellis Street, between Telus Park and One Water

Hopefully it won't be long until we get to see what's envisioned for the remaining and currently empty parcel of land next to One Water.

So FYI the upgrade of highway 97, the backbone of the Okanagan, through Peachland to 4 lanes (the last remaining 2 lane stretch between Vernon and Penticton) has essentially been cancelled by the NDP.

So after years of studies and open houses they instead will partake in minor intersection upgrades with the option for a bypass or full upgrade in.......... 20 years...

Seriously, would this not have been an appropriate Covid19 stimulus project for the Okanagan?

Do the NDP really have no balls or ability to make a decision on a route when it comes to highway upgrades?

Or are they just giving the Okanagan area the finger?

The Chase twinning project was reduced in length and had an interchange converted into 2 protected T intersections...

The long delayed Boucherie Road project also looks to be decreased in scale through the cryptic wording available (originally included a mini interchange at Westlake Road, but now that is likely removed and will remain at traffic light).

It seems like the NDP has been giving the finger to the interior for years now. All they do is kick the can down the road.

Driving back to Kelowna from the Kootenays the other day I got stuck behind a big rig in Sicamous.....all the way to Armstrong. A stretch of 2 lane hwy that is over 50 kms long.....and not a single passing lane the entire stretch. Not even one. Pretty ridiculous!

Sigh. The plight of the BC highway system.

I'm just waiting for the automated personal drone vehicle to become a thing in 15 years, so we can be done with our inadequate road network.

For years now? Last I checked the NDP has been in power (coalition government) for only 3 years, and the Liberals for 16 straight years before that, yet this is the NDP giving the interior the finger for years now? This only became an issue since July 18, 2017?

Try living on Vancouver Island, then you’d know all about the Liberals giving the Island the finger!

The Liberals actually did many major highway improvements in the Okanagan.

The new Okanagan Bridge
Passing lanes between Osoyoos and Oliver (plus new bridge in Oliver)
The massive work of twinning the 97 between Summerland and the southern end of Peachland.
The entirely new section of highway 97 along Woodlake (which included interchanges on each end and even third lane climbing lanes)
The Westside Road Interchange.
Widening the 97 to 6 lanes passed highway 33.
The twinning of several sections of the 97 north of Vernon (including 2 interchanges)

It’s only been the last 3 years that everything has come to a screeching halt. This kicking of the Peachland Highway twinning / new alignment 20 years down the road is the icing on that cake.

As for the island, I will agree that it was neglected by the Liberals (though you did get the Malahat improvements, the airport interchange and the McKenzie interchange) but so far the NDP are just as lackluster in that regard.

Looks like additional site prep is starting for the Bernard Block. The sales centre (old Woolworths building) is still in place, but I noticed some drilling and testing equipment which I'm assuming is for the commercial tower starting in the Fall.

Also the West Tower at One Water is now officially underway and they're working on the first floor above the podium.

Wow, that project is actually going to move forward this fall, starting with the office tower?

When will the sales centre open for the residential, and any official heights?
