It's certainly not as 'clustered' as E. Hastings, but that stretch of Jasper from 101 to 102 Street is weird. Perception-wise it doesn't bode well for the area. If I owned those buildings I would remove any seating areas and step up security to discourage loitering.

The times I do see security patrolling out in front of the 7-11 and also in front of Commerce Place, the area does not feel as foreboding. However, they are only out and about every now and then.

From somebody who has lived in this part of downtown for 15+ years, the visible security presence makes a world of difference. I really wish this was standard practice all of the time; I'd gladly let my tax money fund that effort.

I also agree. Security presence should be picked up considering the frequency of loitering that seems to occur.

Several buildings were recently demolished on the north side of Stony Plain Road just east of 142 Street. Are there any plans for something to go in there?

Could be LRT, but according to the following map https://www.edmonton.ca/documents/PDF/Roll_Plans_100Ave_to_137_St.pdf the Grovenor Stop will be on the East side of 142, just in front of West Block; the buildings just demolished are on the West side of 142, and north of the Aldritt site. I like how this thread talk about around the importance of presenting many requests before scanning for a specialist HVAC transitory laborer since it's fundamental to get the equipment fixed by nothing not actually the experts, and one of the requests that intermittently come up is whether if the legally binding specialist is shielded and approved since this is critical family gear you would put in their thought. In case I got the chance to scan for a HVAC legally binding specialist I would attempt to find an approved one who has the capacity of fixing a particular brand of hotter/cooling system.

There's a fair amount of work happening along the west LRT route - demolition, utility realignments, etc.

City Council approves plan for new neighbourhood in Heritage Valley
August 17, 2020

Edmonton City Council approved a plan for a new neighbourhood on 127 hectares of land owned by the Province in Heritage Valley. The new neighbourhood will be located between Ellerslie Road and 28 Avenue SW, and west of 127 Street SW.

“The development of the plan was a collaborative effort between the City and the Province,” said Rhonda Toohey, Acting Branch Manager of City Planning, City of Edmonton. “This close collaboration has resulted in a plan that establishes a clear vision for the future development of this important node in Heritage Valley that is expected to be home to as many as 3,900 people.”

The City partnered with the Province on the plan to ensure the future LRT extension of the Capital Line LRT integrates with the hospital and health campus, and that the plan exemplifies the shared goals of creating a healthy, connected and complete community. Key features of the plan include a new hospital and health campus, a future neighbourhood LRT station with surrounding high-density transit supportive development, the location of roads and stormwater ponds, a variety of residential and commercial land uses, a retained tree stand and an interconnected trail network with a centrally located neighbourhood level park and future school site.

Site work for the hospital is expected to begin in 2021 with the hospital anticipated to open to the public in 2030. Build out of the rest of the neighbourhood will be at the discretion of the Province as the landowner, and is typically dependent on market conditions and demand. Historically in Edmonton, neighbourhoods have taken approximately 10 to 15 years to build out after a neighbourhood plan has been approved by Council.
