I agree that the building will still end up looking good. But like any other new building in this town, just not as good as it could have been or that we were led to believe. I fear the same for Midtown Union.

It would be nice if there was a surprising ornamental detail in the finished 1105 W. Peachtree, like a lighting effect that runs throughout the bracing.

You can reference the current animated rendering on the 1105 West Peachtree web site http://1105westpeachtree.com/ - There is NO “X” bracing shown on the Northern side of the building.

Exhibit 2:
You may also want to review the construction images of the north side of the office tower where you will find NO underlying support system pre-installed for the brackets that hold the “X” bracing members in place.
However, when viewing the Southern face of the building, you will notice at each intersecting point of the “X” brace, there are a much wider bands installed as part of the curtain-wall construction. These wider separating bands do not appear on the finished curtain-walls of the Northern side.

Each rendering on that site is showing something different.

I don't mean to be pessimistic, it was just my observation.

I really hope that I'm wrong about the lack of evidence for the "X" bracing on the North side.

I really don't see how they can omitt the bracing elements anyway, since they were originally supposed to tie into the crown design at the top - which still seems to be planned.

It doesn’t appear on the north side in the current website and it also clearly shows how the north facade of the crown appears in the rendering. You’ve answered your own question by visiting the website. IMO it looks fine and doesn’t affect the crown design from that vantage point.

To be fair, any normal sized office building (in parameters) would look squatty next to a building that's over 800 feet tall.

12 floors is a good bit more height. Not to mention the paraphet on top. Give it a chance.

I agree with you, but the Icon is a much lower elevation grade and it still looks to tower over it..I know it will be slightly taller, all I said is that I am just a bit disjointed on they way it is turning out...Period..

I couldn't disagree more - I think it's going to be a great addition - got a good close-up view of it yesterday while I was working and don't really care about the height because I love the design.

Let's wait for the finished product

I love the overall scale of the three building. Mix of use's are outstanding. I wish the west side street level was completely different. Perhaps the open area on top of the parking could be a little more 'green' - water absorption, plant diversity. I think the glass and steel materials are top notch.

The architectural bracing on the south side of the building will have a lighting feature at night. There are LED fixtures affixed to the bottom braces following the angle.
