After Holland Parkside is completed in the coming years, we'll probably see development slowly creep westward towards the SW area of Holland park. Probably a few taller (10-20 stories) towers closer to KGB, but otherwise a row of 4-6 storey townhouses.

My mistake for not specifying. I meant the park itself. It is slated to be expanded and the City has been buying up the houses on the South end of the park with plans to eventually put in some type of sporting (volleyball or tennis perhaps?) courts.

There's an article about it here. They said 7-10 years and that was in 2018

The City has plans to expand Holland Park, with additional amenities including a water park, tennis and volleyball courts, and an outdoor staging area to support large outdoor concerts and special events.

Starting to think we have too much green-space in Surrey (i.e. Tynehead, Holland, Green Timbers, Hawthorne, Bear Creek Park, Surrey Bend Park, Redwood Park, and Surrey portion of Burn's Bog. We need a nice theme park with some B&M Rollercoasters and Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) rollercoasters to change things up and put Playland in its place. Good way to attract people to Surrey than just cheaper housing. But where?....hmmm...

I see we are stepping into fantasy land here... Let me join .

Based purely upon uninformed speculation I would say that a decent place to set up a decently sized theme park could be done between Fleetwood and Cloverdale along the Fraser highway. Lots of land there plus it would be easily accessible by the future Expo line extension towards Langley. However this is said without knowing the location of the OMC yard or if there are any agricultural zoning preservation policies in place.

I do agree that Surrey could start looking into developing more amenities to really become that destination south of the Fraser river.

Culture and public transit integral for Surrey's momentum to become a "world-class" city
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/surrey-city-centre-economic-development

Snippet from the article:
Quote:
He suggested the city centre could use its own performing arts centre — “a small Queen Elizabeth Theatre of some sort” — and collaborate closely with the large South Asian community on creating an arts and culture strategy.
Now that the YMCA development has been cancelled, perhaps we could see some sort of theatre or performing arts centre built on the property?

There's always been a plan for a performing arts centre in that civic complex.

I mean this doesn't indicate much because even once it gets bought it may be a while till anything gets built right

True. It does show that things are in motion and whoever DOES buy it will have the intent to develop!

Thought that property was owned by Bosa. If you look through the report for the Gateway Place application - the site plan had 2 residential towers shadowed in on that site (presumably future phases to follow the 6-storey office building).

https://www.surrey.ca/bylawsandcouncillibrary/PLR_7914-0012-00.pdf

"The proposed 2-lot subdivision will allow the remaining northern lot to be assembled with the vacant lot to the north (13450 Gateway Drive), which is also owned by the subject applicant/owner, for a future multiple residential development"

Guess they're selling it off.

But then why would they use that realtor?
