^ Yea, that building has been on the chopping block for a while. The entire structure is about to collapse from what I remember.
Now that the US government kicked out the Chinese consulate, who will replace them? Mattress Firm? CVS? Keeping with the Chinese theme...Panda Express?
They should either mothball the embassy in case relations improve in a year or two, or tear it down because low end offices don't have a future right now. If it was the latter, it could become townhomes or something eventually.
Maybe the secured facility could become a halfway house for released felons, or a mental health treatment center? Or it could be used as a data center?
I noticed that in Houston, towers seem to go for a darker glass than what you see in Austin or somewhere like Vancouver.
Is it to keep the AC from having to work too hard?
I doubt it. I think it's prolly just the color the architect likes. But darker colors do perform better than lighter colors in the winter when it is cold in Houston.

Per @buffalobayou & @houparksboard work started on Buffalo Bayou trail along north of @DowntownHouston from Allen's Landing to McKee. One of the major donors was Gerald Hines, who died last week. Partnership pres. Anne Olson called it "a fitting tribute to his remarkable legacy."
