WestJet has not updated it's schedule beyond September 4. I would take that information with a grain of salt for now.

Same for AC. Everything beyond Sept 8 is operating as normal, except for China and few other long-haul flights.

Oh I would definitely take it with a large grain of salt. The article mentioned WestJet restarting YVR to Hawaii September 5th and AC on September 8th. Not sure where they got their information from?

Flights are being pulled even one week in advance. A schedulers nightmare.
What you see in forward schedules even 4 weeks out isn't what's going to happen.
I don't believe anything I see even 4 months out at this stage.

AA will suspend YVR-DFW from September for the remainder of the year and has cancelled YVR-LAX indefinitely.

A reporter probably just ventured over to WestJet and Air Canada's website and looked up flights to Hawaii.

Many travel blogs did the same thing with flights to Mexico too.

As Johnny mentioned, schedules are literally being changed just days before their planned to fly. It's been hard for the airlines to gauge the demand as travel restrictions are changing basically every hour.

If WestJet follows similar patterns to previous months, they should load the September schedule either August 9th or 16th.

Yup i just saw that. guess American got fed up with Trudeau's unflexible restrictions and said screw Canada. Air Canada and Westjet are also very frustrated but Kim Jong Trudeau told them to screw off. Would love it if Air Canada and Westjet were able to agree to completely shut down for a month like airlines such as Ryanair did in Europe and show the government what life is like with no air travel. Comrade Trudeau expects them just to keep operating as he sees fit and lose money.

Seems like YVR had reopened at least part of A and B pier and WS are moved back. Part of D and E are still closed.

American is still planning to serve Canada in September via YYZ, YUL and YYC.

If that was true, then American would have canceled YYZ, YUL and YYC as well. They didn't.

The airlines have no business telling the government what to do in terms of national health policies/border restrictions. They should mind their own business. Borders are closed for a reason.

This being said, Canadians have always been able to travel to the US by air. Only the land border is closed to non essential travel. Knowing this, and the fact that AC/WS still havent resumed a good chunk of US routes should tell you everything you need to know about demand to the US right about now.

And where did you get the idea that Trudeau expects the airlines to keep operating "as he sees fit" ? AC/WS are free to cancel whichever routes they want.

So I don't know what you are ranting about.

Update of YVR Pier D Expansion:

Functional Testing is slated to begin this August 2020, and Acceptance Phase and Handover is scheduled for mid October 2020 and use of the facility planned by end of the year.

It includes 8 new gates, Not 6 new gates

Was there not supposed to be 4 bridged gates and 4 remote stands for Pier D
