I believe it was changed based on the recommendation received from the Urban Design Review Panel.

Wow... really excited to see this get under way. Shovels in the ground will finally make it feel real.

When exactly did utility relocation take place? Can't seem to recall that happening.

It's probably too much to ask, but if they could use non-reflective glass that doesn't kill birds *that would be great*. Besides that, I am thrilled to see this moving along!

I agree! I hope they consider using the bird friendly glass. Otherwise it may end up like Constitution Square which I believe is a major bird killer.

I just had a thought... With a shared podium the two residential towers will probably rise together at the same time.. Epic!

If I recall correctly, in one of the recent documents I noticed that they plan to build it out in 2 phases with the first including the tallest tower as well as the office, then the second phase being the remaIning rental tower. If that’s the case it’s going to be quite the sight seeing a 65 story building surrounded by (mostly) low rise buildings and green space.

Well that's pretty cool too. The office tower is not an insubstantial building and it would be cool to see it rise with the big tower. I wonder how they would build the podium without the second residential tower though.

That's pretty common. It was the approach used when the World Exchange Plaza was built in the early 90s. The second tower went up in 2001.

The podium could be built in two phases, same as the towers.

Or that, like Minto, Constitution Square, Claridge Plazas...

Can't wait to see this one rise! Even if it gets chopped to 55 it will be visible from EVERYWHERE! At what point can we assume the planned height is the final one?

As Marcus CLS said above, Site Plan has been approved so there shouldn't be any further height changes. Although it technically could still be appealed, it would be an odd thing to do at this stage.

Looks like the final height will be 65-56-24 storeys.

Rode by on my Bike Friday. No new activity yet. A number of people have mentioned links to Agendas and minutes posted by others do not work. Only Browser Internet Explorer or Microsoft edge seem to work. The City website indicates you must use Internet Explorer. I have 3 browsers and only Microsoft edge works.

Appealed by whom? Trinity? Under the Planning Act, only the applicant can appeal the decision of the Site Plan Control.

I'm not holding my breath, because Ottawa. Anyone want to start a height-reduction-during-construction pool?

This does indeed seem too good to be true for Ottawa. Don't want to sound like a pessimist, but I also expect some bad news anytime now.

Let's hope we are wrong this time.

The Ottawa market is absolutely red hot despite everything the economy could throw at it this year. I am doubtful there will be a significant height reduction. If Trinity were truly uncertain, they would have cut the height already before final approval from the city.
