I'd be okay with this is there weren't 49 other cities with the exact same claim. Is Salt Lake that boring that our biggest trait is that we're one of fifty state capitals?

I'd rather just not call that out and keep a basic blue/white flag with no star if that's what the star is going to represent.

Any love for this flag I just cooked up? I thought it would represent our heritage.

It is unique to Salt Lake..

I think should sell those flags. It would make a cool Halloween decoration.

Here's my quick rendition...

I am actually very excited about this. I think, if this is done right, having a flag citizens are willing to fly and put on t shirts, post cards, etc could create a stronger sense of community and place.

^^^ I actually love this! A much more subtle mountain design makes all the difference in the world. Also I could see this on a t-shirt for sure. Would probably look somewhat like a soccer kit but blue torso white chest with a star right over the heart and yellow shoulders and sleeves.

It looks like another big project is underway in Salt Lake.

Heavy machinery was tearing up the parking lot at the Patrinley Site this afternoon!!

Exciting news! It feels like we've been waiting on this forever. It will be nice to see downtown extend further south.

I think it looks good on a tshirt and you make a good point about the subtle mountain design. What if we stuck with the blue and white flag but used the same mountain style to separate the two colors? The flag could have the same meaning but still be distinct from the Bavarian flag.

You need another color above the white, since the white has to be the "pointed" color... you can't make the blue color have the angle as that wouldn't make sense... You could do white on the bottom and blue on top instead. Like so

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I like that. It may also look good with a gold star/flower/honeycomb in the bottom center.

Nice. That's starting to remind me of one of the better submissions on Reddit (that was submitted to the city and isn't a finalist for some reason):

And here are a couple more submissions from the same designer:

UtahPlanner, Makid or anyone who might know the answer to Orlando's question on this project?

delts, I don't know what happened with that project. They were very enthusiastic about the project and seemed ready to go but we haven't heard a peep in months.

Trolley is a different situation. They are constantly in a rushed, run as fast as you can phase that it is immediately followed by a silent, no progression phase. This isn't new for Trolley. I'm sure that they will develop their south parking lot in time but I would think it's probably a 2021 or 2022 project.

Hopefully this is approved because the development seems entirely appropriate for the area.

Not really a tower, but it will still be a nice addition to the burgeoning southern downtown area. Glad to see work begin!
