Was out for a walk on Main St. today and noticed they have the signs up for the forthcoming one-lane traffic.
Should have got some pictures, they are covered with some plastic but easy to see what's on them. As you approach from under the subway they have Do not Enter ahead signs on both sides and at Lutz and Main there is a Left/Right turn only sign. Also coming from the other direction there is a 2 way traffic sign at the Lutz Main intersection towards the Subway.
So I assume this is going to be going into place very soon, from the information it's just a matter of putting up the concrete dividers to separate the lanes and changing the lane markings.
This should be an interesting experiment, as they have talked about this for the 22 years I've lived here but never actually attempted it.

There was a large sign in front of the eleven-eleven building across from the Avenir Center that has now been removed. It was advertising space for lease, 1700 or 3200 sq. ft. and said "your new resto here". I wonder if they have a tenant for the space, or have they taken it off the market altogether. The sign was there for quite some time.
House came down today (Thursday). Appears that the start of construction will be soon.
I drove by this morning and there were 2 large diggers working on site. One close to Highfield Street, the other was close to Elm St. Didn't appear that they were removing debris, so construction might have started today.
The 32 unit apartment building slated for the corner of Cameron & Gordon streets was one of the projects that received approval at the PAC meeting on Wednesday. The developer Marcel Leblanc said construction will start in August and he expects it to be completed by next summer. Nice little in-filling project to bring more residents to the downtown core.
Does anybody know if the developer of the 32 unit on Cameron/Gordon is the same Marcel LeBlanc of MoeMar Homes? For years their focus was on building and selling. A couple of years ago, they started renting out the townhouse type units that they had previously sold as condos. Now they're building apartment buildings on Runnymeade Rd., so it wouldn't surprise me if this was the same developer. Not sure though.

I drove by on Saturday and there are 3 large backhoes there plus a "porta-potty" so they must be starting the project.
I have a relative planning a trip to Moncton in the fall.
Does anyone know the proposed opening dates for:
(1) Hilton Garden Inn?
(2) Hyatt?
The Hilton, I'm not so sure, but the Hyatt was supposed to be open in July. I don't know how much of a monkey wrench that COVID has tossed into these plans though.........
The western portion of Gordon Street is starting to develop some nice density.
That’s very true! Do you think at some point, the intersection with Vaughan Harvey becomes a full intersection? I think it would make a big difference, especially to the people who live in the area around Jones lake.
With the new Ashford project at Highfield & Gordon and the 32 unit building starting in August at the corner of Cameron & Gordon, it got me wondering about the redevelopment of the McKenzie College building on Cameron & Gordon. It is supposed to be a $10 million plus project. I remember they submitted plans to the PAC about a year ago, so I thought they were serious about proceeding. It would be another major project for this part of town.
On the CCD Canada website, there is a listing for a new apartment building to be built at 5 Sangster Street (in behind Sounds Fantastic). I saw a render for this a few months ago, but I didn't post anything because it is only small infill. The posting on CCD however is a good indication that this project is going ahead, and that the densification of the Avenir Centre neighbourhood continues on.
Work is being done on the old Impulse bar on Main Street. This was the front part of the Paramount Theater building that the Ashford Group purchased. It looks like they're doing renovations so they can lease it out. As is, to me it's a real eyesore. Lets hope they turn it into something nice so it gets rented and it brings more people into the downtown.
