I can't say anything other than - there is a proposal for a new building on a surface lot in the exchange. This is a new proposal, height is an issue.

You're like a really bad episode of some show... "nothing exciting this week BUT TUNE IN NEXT WEEK!!!!"

Is there some kind of timeline on when we'll hear something?? This summer? this year? this century?

I think if COVID shows us anything, it's that we shouldn't put counterprodcutive arbitrary height limits on projects in dense (downtown-ish) areas, as we need more residents to support area businesses. See TV's WFP article this week haha.

McDermot / Bannatyne East. North or South lot would be my guess...

What kind of height restriction would there be in the downtown? Due to the national historic thing?

Isn't there still a proposal for some red and white thing, about 4 or 5 storeys and lots of square in the facade proposed on the east part of McDermot?

I was reading in the WCA construction reports a couple of months ago it was still proceeding, I think with a 2021 start date. Would the new proposal be a rework of that?

I assume West Exchange but can you say if east or west?

I thought that it was lower on Waterfront? Something about the street environment and preserving views for potential builds behind? Currently the tallest building on Waterfront is 8 storeys (Excelsior), nothing else above 6 IIRC. You'd think more of these buildings would've gone up higher if that was the case. I guess presumably there's podium/setback requirements on the street though, and because so many of those lots are really thin it just makes it impossible.

TV might have more info as it came from his firm but I'm pretty sure that was a spec design for Skip before they decided on TNS. They were considering Exchange, Forks, and TNS initially. Would be delighted, but surprised, if this was still happening.

Whoa, I hadn't seen this before. This looks incredible. Has an awesome 60s modernist vibe.

I feel sorry for all those people trapped on the roof

Ya those renders were posted somewhere on here a while back. Any word on progress?

Is that thing taking up both sides of the block? It looks pretty big for just the McDermot side in that render.

It's like if Lakeview did a project in 1996. A little update from all of their square window offices.

Parlour is reopening Tuesday. Many of the lunch/coffee places in the Exchange are closing by 2pm right now. Will be interesting to see how many eventually extend (I've heard lots aren't planning to as they make most of their sales before 1pm).

It's so crucial that we get lots more residential in this and other central areas to make sure businesses can sustain, and some semblance of culture and activity exists outside of peak hours. This would be a good time for city to look at a new residential TIF program for downtown/Exchange to complement the province's TIF announcement.

Does anyone know what's happening with the development at the Great West Metal site? No sign of them going anywhere at the moment. They're still as active as ever churning out garbage cans and whatever other metal products they make. I know they had variance notices posted a couple months ago, but just wondering where things are at and when we can expect demolition to begin.
