I noticed some changes from the original application in 2018. The tower has gained 1 floor while the parking deck is shorter but with more spaces - 9 stories with 941 spaces instead of the original 11 levels and 750 spaces.

Quote:
The proposed commercial-office project will be located at 901 West Peachtree Street,
bordered by 7th Street to the south, West Peachtree Street to the west, 8th Street to the
north and an existing 15-foot-wide alley to the east. The 31-story building will have
approximately 477,000 square feet of commercial use which will house approximately
6,000 square feet of ground floor active-use and 470,000 gsf of office space.
Approximately 750 parking spaces will be provided in an 11- story parking deck that will
be above the ground floor and below the office tower.

You'd think it's just 32 stories overall, but it's hard to tell the way it's written. But their original info from 2018 did say 500 ft. tall. Some of that is likely due to the crown.

I think the 32 stories includes the 9 levels of parking, unless this building is going to have unusually small floor plates.

I'm assuming the office space is the lower part of this tower. Yet another great looking project for West Midtown.

It may end up being more walkable, but I don't know if I'd characterize is as more connected. There is little transit in the area and much of the road network is getting choked with traffic as a result of this rapid urbanization. Long-term, I'm not sure how this area will fare.

It seems to me that it is densifying a bit too rapidly. At least Buckhead has MARTA rail access.

Captain Obvious here. Further Westside growth will be stunted due to bad street layout and maintenance.

WRS not part of Murphy Crossing development team

It's too bad this is canceled. Looks like a nice project to me.

https://saportareport.com/wrs-not-been-part-of-murphy-crossing-development-team-for-months/
Quote:
South Carolina developer WRS Realty has not been part of the Murphy Crossing development team since Christmas.

Cecil Phillips, the CEO of Place Properties, said Thursday that T. Scott Smith, CEO of WRS, had stepped back from the project last December.

On Wednesday, the Atlanta BeltLine Inc. confirmed it was canceling its Memo of Understanding with Place Properties, as the selected developer of Murphy Crossing, and that ABI would be launching a new request for proposals.

Of course they propose something nice and then can't do it.

And decent height and designs, growing density/walkability, tons of restaurants and shopping compared to most Atlanta neighborhoods. I definitely get the comparison between Buckhead village and everything going in around Howell Mill. Different, but similar.

Density/walkability, tons of restaurants, and shopping; i.e., a fully thriving city neighborhood.  I suppose they are similar in that there are so few of those in Atlanta.  West Midtown really isn't all that dense or walkable though it will be a lot more so once the current wave of construction is completed.

Atlanta company 'Ideas United' moving to GlenCastle development

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...-ideas-united-moving-to-revitalized.html

Quote:
Atlanta marketing and ad company Ideas United is relocating to a new development that is revitalizing a more than 125-year-old building that once served as the city stockade.

It signed a more than eight-year lease at GlenCastle and will occupy approximately 13,500 square feet on the project’s third floor. The space will overlook the Grant Park area near Maynard Jackson High School. The lease is scheduled to commence on Jan 1.

In 2017, Atlanta's Urban Realty Partners and RAF Capital bought the former Atlanta Stockade for just under $4 million. The property dates to the late 1800s and was once the largest prison complex in Georgia.

The project is also in walking distance to the Atlanta Beltline, the repurposing of an abandoned railroad loop around the city. It is a powerful catalyst for new development in the area around the GlenCastle project.
