Giving a way for all the heavy traffic to cross, but also bypass New West somewhere. I don't think New West can both be a dense urban centre and freight/commuter traffic crossroads for much longer. I don't quite know where I'd put it yet(Big Bend to Lulu Island?), but long term I think that will be the way to go and will make the whole 4-or-6 debate hopefully less of a big deal.
As an aside, I love that the future possible lanes are going to be improved cycling and pedestrian. I'm all for the cycling bit, but surely most people on foot wanting to get to that part of Surrey would take the SkyTrain, right?

How many times we gotta say this? Mcbride doesn't even need to be 6 lanes from the bridge to 8th although it would be nice and there's obviously space do it. As a side note, I don't even know why New West is bitching. Mcbride is already 6 lanes from 8th to 10 th.
Its been mentioned time and time again that the outer lanes on the new 6 lane bridge would act as add/drop down to the exits on both sides preventing less merging and lane changes like it's done on the Port Mann. I don't know why people and New West is against that. So stupid.
